NOLA used to be majority white.

Now it (was) 67%

NOLA had serious race issues before all this....this is just opportunistic manifestation....bound to happen.

If I couldn't and wouldn' walk thru a black hood down there prior to the storm then why do folks expect everything to go all kumabaya now?

This has been an urban reality a long damn time. It's even become a celebrated sub-culture. I wish folks would wake up and reject that but I'm not holding my breath.

It's back to blame whitey for my behavior....it's seem patently racist to me for folks to think white's are responsible for how some blacks behave. I think responsibility lies at the feet of those acting like Clockwork Orange drooges...and them alone.

I realize that is probably not a popular opinion....even here.

NOLA was probably majority nonwhite for most of its history. I know that, right before the civil war, the majority of the population was either enslaved or "free persons of color." Thanks to a large influx of Irish, Italian, and German immigrants, however, it became a majority white city after the Civil War, and would remain so until the 1970s. I once dated a girl from NOLA of Greek ancestry who told me that their was a sizeable Greek community on the East Side of the city until white flight hit the nabe in the late 70s/early 80s.

BTW: Your home state of Mississippi was majority black until the late 1940s. South Carolina was majority black when Pitchfork Ben Tilman was at the peak of his power at the turn of the last century.
