They have yet to verify that the levees were smashed by grain barges after everyone breathed a sigh of relief. I have heard several comments from Citizens living near where the 200 ft section of the levee was destroyed. They clearly stated that they saw a grain barge smash through to the other side. That is when all the major flooding began. Why in the Heck was the barge not way up river away from vulnerable infrastructure? This State has to replace the entire leadership. It failed every way it counted to save lives and homes.

That's the first I've heard of the grain barges.

Just to add a relevant detail - it isn't "THE" levee. More than one was breached.

The levee that has a barge sitting outside of it is the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal. There was also a breach of the 17th Street levee.

Some actor whose name I don't know (he was shown later on FNC playing makeshift bowling with kids in a shelter) said he knew a man who lived near the levee and said it was a barge.

I don't know where barges are kept, but surely if the MS casinos could be "uprooted" and shifted by the storm, barges could.
