The problem in NO is that many of the poorest people who are black have never had to think for themselves (apart from the criminal element) they have have had State hand outs from cradle to grave including their housing and more likely their parents before them.

When the framework that told them what to do and when and provided the means to do it was no longer there they just crumbled it took many of them days to realise that they had to actually help themselves something they had never done before.

I am not being socially or racially prejudice here but simply making observations which would be true for most deprived areas in most developed countries in the world.

I agree. The problem is exacerbated by Democrat Race politics. Basically the Black leaders on behest of their white Democrat Party bosses. Have been running around for 40 years screaming.

Whitey is out to get you. He always has and always will. Because of that, you don't stand a chance. Because of all the bad they have done to black folk over the years they owe you something. I will get it for you so vote for me". The fact of the matter the "2nd Americans" Dems scream about DO exist. It exists because the Democrat Party cannot survive without that minority "under class" (as they have been calling it in the Dinosaur Press) If that group ever actually lifted itself OUT of poverty the Democrat party would become nothing more then a petty regional power. They would go the route of the Federalist and the Whigs, no longer players in National Politics. The Democrats HAVE to have that perpetual underclass for their votes. The reason they are kept enslaved to the Govt handouts has NOTHING to do with race, it's about Democrat Party power. THAT is why they are so busy screaming at Bush for this mess. They cannot afford the lid to be tore off of just who REALLY is responsible. We got what we saw in NO as the logical outcome of 40 years of Democrat party politics. People who are totally unable to do anything to save themselves when disaster strikes and who have a sense of entitlement so they sit around waiting for "the Govt" to save them. THEY have no responsibility to save themselves cause the GOVT, which they have been told is responsible for them, has to save them. We just saw the "Govt" CANNOT save them so Dems have to make SURE they don't get the blame because their whole justification for political power just got blown to hell in NO this week
