You all wanted to know the "plan" here it is according to Drudge...

Louisiana disaster plan, pg 13, para 5 , dated 01/00

'The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating'...

There was food there, not enough for the number of people that showed up: About 26,000 New Orleans residents sought refuge from Hurricane Katrina at the Superdome, which authorities describe as the "shelter of last resort," Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu said late Sunday. To help keep them fed and hydrated, the Louisiana National Guard delivered three truckloads of water and seven truckloads of MREs — short for "meals ready to eat." That's enough to supply 15,000 people for three days, according to Col. Jay Mayeaux, deputy director of the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Emergency Preparedness. Outside the New Orleans area, the Louisiana Red Cross has opened 45 emergency shelters that were serving about 3,000 evacuees as of late Sunday, said Victor Howell, who heads the Red Cross of the Louisiana Capital Area.

That Sunday. I am asking why the City of NO doesn't have the stuff PRE-Positioned like the old bomb shelters did? They had DAYS to prepare! They SAW the Hurricane coming and have KNOWN since at least Oct 2001 what COULD happen. I get the feeling the State and Local Govts just crossed their fingers and said "I hope it misses, I hope it misses

They're traumatized, and he's already had a couple of suicides. He's gotta get them out of there.

It was an "exclusive interview" on CNN's Late Edition at the very beginning.

"I'd love to see Fox become a "No-Shep Zone"."

What is this dislike of Shep Smith. He has a glib style in his daily show and he is not to hard to watch (as opposed to the 2 guys on the weekend morning gig.

Last summer Shepard Smith publicly called John O'Neil and the Swiftboat Vets liars. He has never retracted that accusation nor apologized. Regardless of how he performs during this particular incident, that arrogant, dishonest and stupid outburst provided us clear evidence of his fatally flawed character. I will not forget.

"If they're bringing Clark in, that pretty much proves that they're not actually creating a liaison group for coordinating efforts, though that's how it will be sold. They're really creating something like Harry Reid's "war room", and using Blanco as a conduit for information that they can take and spin before it goes public."

Either that and/or Witt will be taking direction from the Klintoons and maybe Clark will be on the ticket as VP w Hitlery. Blanco can hardly speak without getting all teary-eyed or crying - she needs Witt to do a better job of finger-pointing of the Admin to the LSM and doing some smooth-talking and make sure the DNC talking points get out (she wasn't doing a very effective job of it).

I'm also interested in the explanation which will be given for why the Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Orleans are NOT on Meet The Press this morning.

Didn't you hear? They are too busy supervising rescue and recovery efforts because obviously the Feds have abandoned their responsibilities to help since they haven't arrived yet.

I've been spreading the WaPo article as much as I can. What better way to show the truth than to use the other side's own finger to point at them?

I am fed up to my eyeballs with stupid politicians, OMG! I was just watching This Week, and an idiot (I have no idea which one, they all look the same to me) declared that Bush senior had no problem calling in the guard during the LA riots. Yesterday I saw another idiot declaring how we should have had thousands of Chinook helicopters lined up on the causeway in NO, to be immediately ready to begin evacuations.

It just shows how completely clueless they are as to the magnitude of a cat 5 storm. They seem to think that the government can just magically overcome winds of 185 miles an hour, high water, just any old thing at all. I have a friend in Boston, they lost power there for hours on Wednesday, 3 days after Katrina crossed land, she was still furious enough to be doing her devastation.

OMG, those idiots need a muzzle!

If it's the same guy I heard, he mentioned Powell (as have a few others) but then said Andrew Young.

Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders

Thanks for that link. This is the first item posted. Says it all.

Yeah and the REAL beauty of the Washington Post article noted in Post 13 of this thread just sunk in. It's confrimation from their OWN sources the verfies everything we have been telling them! If the Pres is fighting with the GOV of Lousiana on Friday NIGHT to take over, how it all this "Bush's Fault"? It confirms THEY are in charge and Bush is having to ASK to help THEM!!!!!

I think we're at a point where we have to think about a recess appointment. We can't have 4-4 decisions for the first half of the term. If they blow up Roberts, we'll have 4-3 decisions with the liberal side of the court prevaling.

Could Arnold be on the court? Recess appointment?

Isn't is strange that since the day after the hurricane, the Dems have gone into defense and blame mode, WHEN NO ONE HAS EVEN QUESTIONED THEIR RESPONABLITY.

Not one Republican, or the news media have been remotely critical of them.

Not one.

"Somewhere with a lot of hotel rooms like Las Vegas."

They replayed his remarks again on CNN about 15 minutes ago. I haven't looked to see if they have a video link on their web page yet, but since it was billed as a CNN exclusive interview, I don't know if you'll see it anywhere else.

You'll appreciate this, MNJ.just seen on ABC This Week

A WaPost poll (which is unlikely tilted in favor of Pubs) shows that more blame LOCAL government than the FED government.

Also, on W's handling of the disaster; almost even 46/47.

It would be a 7 member Court if O'Connor steps down before her replacement is confirmed.
