It is. The Pres of Jefferson Parrish said he kept hearing that 'the calvary is coming' and they never came. He also said that FEMA wouldn't allow water in and that the Coast Guard told them they could come get the fuel then when they went down there they wouldn't let them have it - told them that FEMA said no. He's on a rant on the Feds and FEMA and praising Blanco for sending in the NG.

Landrieu just said Bush came for a photo op -

I wonder how these politicians hold their heads up when they actually have to come face to face with the president after they make these kinds of remarks? She is not only clueless but classless.

Typical Stephie today....

They got sooooooo close when blaming Bush "why not bring down busses and choppers and all down to save these people" and "first Bush tried to spin this as a law and order thing with the looting now they are trying to blame the mayor"

BUT... no mention of the 250 school busses left to flood because they were never activated by the "why aren't you doing my job" mayor.

Typical, should have expected but FNS was on commercial, so thought I'd share.

The truth WILL get out. The blindsided us cause we were all ready to DO the job and forget the politics, They want war. Believe me, they REALLY do not want a Congressional Investigation into why all our Homeland Security Money give to NO and Louisiana since 9-11 produced THIS mess.

http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/nation/12494991.htm

Leon Moore, 55, the left side of his body paralyzed for the past 12 years because of a stroke, pulled his weathered red truck up to the Superdome and angrily decried Mayor Nagin. "The mayor of the city didn't make preparations for the handicapped," he said.

The criticisms of Nagin came from above as well. Numerous officials urged him to evacuate the city, but he worried about the legality of ordering people out when New Orleans has few safe hurricane shelters for them to evacuate to. Also, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield in Miami called Nagin at home Saturday night and told him: Get people out of New Orleans.

"I could never sleep if I felt like I didn't do everything that I could to impress upon people the gravity of the situation," Mayfield said. "New Orleans is never going to be the same."

Aaron Broussard Jumps The Gun
During Hurricane Dennis many in the newsroom were making fun of Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard because he called a voluntary evacuation before the storm even entered the gulf, and while the state senate election was still scheduled to go on. Luckily, it didn't seem to matter because so few people left, but still... What a sloppy move!

Worse yet, he ignored the evacuation plan that all the parishes had agreed on. The newsroom got a call from the LA State Police after JP's press conference stating that only they (the LSP) had the authority to manage an evacuation. Governor Blanco released a similar statement to us also.

Honestly, I think it is always wise to evacuate the unprotected low-lying areas, but for those of us behind the protection levees it is unnecessary. Broussard jumped the gun, and what's worse is that in the future people will take his evacuation orders less seriously. Tsk tsk.

On toppa that - the local stations didn't challenge Broussard very harshly on his actions because if you piss off a political leader then they won't give you interviews in the future. And in the news business you just can't afford to be left outta the loop on stories, hence soft questions galore. And that is just a fraction of how bad this system gets, my friends.

Susan Page of USAToday and Bill Kristol says no question the state and local officials have a lot to answer for...Juan says the admin has a lack of understanding of what is going on down there. There has been a shameful failure of this admin to respond to the need of the people.

Early on there they were, Nagin and Blanco on TV.

Next up were the representatives of our administration.

I was so proud of our guys. Even Minetta had valuable information to report and all were so impressive.

Quite a contrast.

Because the school buses were designed for children they would be cramped and that they had no toilet facilities.

So it was better to leave people trapped with no food, no water and ineffective police protection. It's "All Bush's fault" because the City decided the people could be put thur any discomfort to SAVE THEIR LIVES?
