Texas should not have to take ALL the evacuees! When this first started they said they were taking the 25, 000 from the Superdome. Soon it was 75,000. Now 220, 000. Where are all these people coming from?
What about Louisiana's neighbor to the north, Arkansas? I'm in Missouri, how many are we taking? I'm not hearing about it...
Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio have all added a new suburb overnight. These new suburbs have no land, money, infrastructure, or government. When you account for all the small towns around Texas that have shelters, many of the Texas towns have immediately matched their growth plans for the next decade.
Detroit and Cleveland have had declining populations for decades. They should each be able to take in 50,000 and provide them with land for housing. Buffalo, Erie, Youngstown, etc. all have room for at least 10,000 each.
