A lot of the funds raised by the Red Cross after 9-11 went to funding their programs instead of going directly to the families and relief.

The same thing with The United Way...it went to funding social programming.

You have to earmark your money and say where you want it to go.

Operation Blessing,Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities will make sure your money goes to the right place.

I'll go with Catholic Charities. I visited ST Louis Cathedral in NO a few years ago. They will know who is in need.

Right after Mass today they announced Hurricane relief collection baskets were being placed near the exits today. Folks were really filling those baskets as they left!
