True. We had only planned on 150k. We expanded to 220k, and the buses and planes are still coming. Looks like we can process another 20-30k, and get them firstline support, but they will need to be relocated for the medium and longterm assistance. We are not sending all of them away.
I'm concerned about what's going to happen when people realize we're going to lose convention business, and our welfare queens and kings are going to have to compete with the newcomers for largesse.
Exactly - they're all still coming here, but once they're cared for, they must be moved on to where they can live on a more or less permanent basis. We're not turning anyone away.
So much for "there are only 100,000 people left in New Orleans and the surrounding area." Damn the Louisiana government that let this happen.
