It was Bush that asked the Gov and Mayor to order a mandatory evacuation, NOT their idea at all.

It doesn't matter who "screwed" up with calling for the evacuation, it matters with regards to the response time. Is anyone feeling comfortable right now with the potential for another terrorist attack of the magnitude of 9/11 when this is what we can expect for a response??? Partisan politics are all well and good but this goes way way beyond that. This is REALLY REALLY serious people.
To: Soul Seeker
I really don't want to come down too hard on anybody in this. The fact is that NO ONE on earth has had to deal with the magnitude of this disaster. It is of epic proportions. It could have been lessened somewhat, but not really a great deal. The most tangible thing that I keep saying really OUGHT to have been done by the failed leadership is declaring martial law on Tuesday evening, with a "shoot to kill" looters and criminals by Wed afternoon... that would have given the rescue crews some cover and breathing room. All the rest is very tough, and very little could be done after the decision was made many years ago to build Cat.3 levees, and not to improve on them because of the environazis' pressure.

They were able to find the materials and organize the convoys within two days but FEMA couldn't even manage to ask the Army to airdrop food and water. The air assets required to air drop food and water were busy plucking people off their flooded homes.

And why didn't the Mayor have all the school buses moved to higher ground so they could be used in an evacuation?
The level of incompetence seems to have risen to the level of criminality.

Criminal acts are shooting at the helicopters trying to get low enough to drop medicine.
Criminal acts are shooting at the boats trying to rescue people from their rooftops.
Criminal acts are sitting on your dead ass instead of mobilizing to protect the women and children in the shelters.
Criminal acts are not volunteering to help wherever needed instead of waiting for THE MAN to come to your rescue.

I don't know about a "shoot to kill order", imagine if you'd gone 3-4 days with no food or water, wouldn't you be tempted to help yourself to something out of a supermarket, I know I would, especially if I had children to feed. Marshall law yes, but only when the situ is somewhat under control, which right now it ain't.
To: TheForceOfOne
Are you referring to the Mayor who informed the world that he is not a drug addict.
He just plays one on TV, I guess.

How can this be?
Jesse Jackson told us Bush is a racist who could care less because most of the New Orleans victims were black.
Incredible.

The looting began Monday within moments of the wind stopping.
There was nothing left to loot when the food was really needed.

I am nearly about to strangle family, friends & coworkers when they hurl 'Bush is doing NOTHING' at me everyday.
I feel like I'm about to become violent with them, and reminders like these keep me grounded.
Printed for liberal kin & friends I'd like to ----.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said that President Bush had called and urged the state to order the evacuation.
I heard somewhere that these goons (D) would use school buses to carting the poor people from their homes to the polling places every times at voting times! Why did they NOT use all the same thousands of school buses to get the poor people out of NO BEFORE the buses now sitting "drowned" in 8 feet of water?? Hmmmmm???

This is a huge wakeup call. The thug underclass/gang element will destroy this country if not put down and disarmed.
Does that include those in the media/press?

CNN should have its license pulled for the total disgrace that is Cafferty and Blitzer. Cafferty suddenly thinks he's Lewis Black.

So "...it doesn't matter who screwed up"?
Then you wouldn't care whether Guiliani or Nagin were your mayor. Because it is most definitely about partisan politics. If you don't know that by now, you're too stupid to post here...or vote.
