Tancredo Predicts GOP Immigration Clash -- "Believe me, it will be one hell of a fight"

President Bush and House conservatives are on a collision course over the contentious issue of immigration reform, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) said Thursday.

Tancredo, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and author of the REAL GUEST Act (HR 3333), said he expects Bush to embrace legislation drafted by Senators Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) and John McCain (R.-Ariz.). Conservatives strongly oppose the bill, which Tancredo said is tantamount to amnesty.

Tancredo’s bill instead focuses on enforcement, particularly on companies that employ illegal immigrants. He said once illegal workers are denied jobs, they will no longer flood into the United States.

“If you stop illegal employment in this country—some big, high-profile cases with . . .

And don't forget, we recently had Bush's former speechwirter, David Frum, join our side of the issue as well. Uh-oh!

So Is Frum Now A Xenophobe?

Are you guys kidding me?? Tancredo has a WORSE voting absence record than Kerry. What the hell has he been doing before 2004????

Just like the open borders lobby, you don't have your own facts straight, that or you just made them up on the spot.

"Since he has been in Congress Tom has cast 3,058 of the 3,115 recorded votes (as of June 3, 2004) for a lifetime percentage of 98.1%, one of the best records in the House."

Most politicians will ride that issue for the next year.

I doubt it. It'll be considered old news two months from now. Illegal immigration won't.

Your handlers are really hanging you out to dry, aren't you? Tancredo voted for the PBA in 2002. The rest of your propaganda is without a doubt similarly shoddy.

See my post #123.

Tancredo has nothing to do with PAT Buchanan. The Buchanan who he started TA PAC with is BAY Buchanan...

He does that all the time. If it was Pat Buchanan, he would say Pat Buchanan. But since it's not, he just says Buchanan and hopes people instantly think of Pat Buchanan. I'm no huge fan of Pat Buchanan, but I know people like bayourod use him as a red herring.

Why did you have to go there?

What's your favorite baseball team?

I know. I guess I'll just root for the Braves, since I use to live in Georgia. But the Royals always have next year!

It's funny, about a month or so ago I did run into a freeper on the other side of this issue who seemed willing to debate it honestly. I don't know what happened to him.

"What has Tancredo said that's anti-Hispanic?"

Nothing - that's LiarRod's claim.

I call him on it all the time too, and he keeps repeating it.

He thinks that by posting lies on these threads that other FReepers will give credibility to what he says just because they read it here.

AFAIAC he is a troll disruptor who works for who-knows-who. I'm not even convinced that he's a Bush supporter as he lets on... I suspect it's part of his ploy to try to look convincing.

What he doesn't realize is that people DO pay attention to who posts what, and that his number is up except to his 2 or 3 sycophants.

"see post 116"

Right, my bad. I have been drinking heavily all day and pounding my head into a brick wall.

I can think of no better reason to attempt to defend that OBLoony.

How about some quotes to back up that accusation, you congenital liar?

Ain't going to happen. He knows deep down inside that Tancredo is not an "anti-hispanic" or a "racist." What he is doing is using the liberal tactic that is the race card, but unlike liberals, the race card doesn't work on most conservatives.

The gulf is in tatters, but the world hasn't stopped.

Not to mention the Border Patrol was pulled off the border yesterday to go assist in NO, so the country is more exposed than ever to the invasion.

By the way - thanks for the explanation about how some quislings try to link Pat B. with Tancredo... I never knew what that babble was really about... or why they get so hysterical over certain names to begin with.

Wow. Have they done the same with ATF? They need to move the entire manpower of that worthless agency to New Orleans. And have the EEOC work the bucket brigades.

NO will be in session as long as the Congress is in session. It will take two months to get NO relief bills through committees at least and they won't go for final signoff until the end of the session. Then it is campaign time. This one, involving monstrous FedGov action, will move everything else to the backpage. Already we see suggestions for other issues, but they don't have enough float to ride higher than NO. Unless another city-buster shows up in the meantime, this one is the big one.

It would be a plus for all involved to get over the blame-placing phase and onto the city rebuilding theme, but some are apparently not interesting in moving past the blame-placing phase at this time.
