"It's really difficult because my opinion of the looting is it started with people running out of food, and you can't really argue with that too much," he said.

Way to show some leadership. Moron.

Nagin's clearly out of his depth. A living illustration of the Peter Principle: one rises to one's ultimate position of incompetence.

Someone needs to post the photo of those school buses sitting in a parking lot, flooded up to their windows.

It doesn't take long for all politicians to enter the battlefield and shoot the wounded as the first order of business.

Bush has to
1]Put someone in charge to take over
2]Open all the military bases to receive needy
3]Obtain local transportation to nearby airports
4]Ground some commercial flights. Send those aircraft to airports to airlift
5]Local people provide transportation to bases and food.
6]Rehab New Orleans

Pronto - Act like this is a war to be won quickly or lost.

"many are taking the opportunity to express frustration with their mayor. "Where are you?" one person asked on the Web site. "Be a man and take care of your people."
Another person said he liked Mr. Nagin but wondered, "Where is command central?"

"New Orleans Mayor No Giuliani"

EXACTLY!!

This mayor and governor are incompetent! They're expecting and depending on the federal gov't to do EVERYTHING for them, including the work they should be doing themselves.

WHERE are you Mayor? I haven't seen you working in your shirtsleeves helping your people. Where is your command central?? Get out of Baton Rouge and get down to New Orleans.

Nagin should be removed from office immediately. I've never seen such a poor job of leadership. I never once saw him in a video giving aid and comfort to his constituent's. I never saw him in a news clip showing forceful leadership.

All I ever heard of him was "We in a world of sh*t. Its George Bush's fault" Give me a stinkin' break.

This almost is starting to remind me of CHIEF MOOSE. Remember HIM? We actually had a terrorist/sniper situation in the nation's capital, disrupting the whole region and causing panic, and remember HIS leadership? Lot's of parallels. I'm sick of it.

"New Orleans Mayor No Giuliani"

That's the understatement of the century.
