There is no suggestion that Canadian Forces would deploy for peacekeeping or law enforcement functions.

They would be there to do jobs for which they are equipped and experienced in disaster relief operations in Canada and around the world, including the recent deployment of the DART team in response to the tsunami.

Armed forces are not just used to kill people and smash things.
