Ted Koppel blames Bush for failure to evacuate poor prior to the Katrina hitting New Orleans

Tonight on Nightline, during an inteview with the FEMA director, Ted Koppel demanded to know why the Bush Administration did not send fleets of buses into New Orleans to evacuate those too poor to evacuate themselves -- PRIOR TO KATRINA HITTING NEW ORLEANS.
For previous hurricanes the Federal Government did not participate in evacuations, only in clean up and recovery. That did not seem to matter much to Koppel since he obviously knew that Mike Brown was too much of a gentleman to smack him for attempting to deceived the American people.
However, Koppel does have a point, in a way. The Bush Administration should have known the Louisiana and New Orleans governments would be too incompetent to do anything right, and should have planned for it.

Well, what we know is that Clinton, in the same position, wouldn't be scapegoated by the media, Troll.

Ted Koppel is just doing as most liberal do:
Spew hate and shit in their mindless & relentless hatred towards anything Conservative or Bush.

WARNING! SAVE YOURSELF THE COST OF BUYING A NEW TELEVISION!Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT watch Nightline at this moment! I had a VERY close call there! I almost threw a brick into the middle of my TV to eradicate Koppel's scumbag, lying face. But I managed to turn it off just in time before destroying my TV.
You might not be so lucky. Turn off Nightline right now!! Or hide all your bricks.

You want it to be a nice new spade with a razor-sharp edge.

If Ted were a REAL reporter, he would investigate the mayor of NO comments on the legal reasons why he did not want to order a mandatory evac.
The major said he had to ck with the lawyers.
It is all verbatim on FR's hurricane thread #II?
To: PhilipFreneau
Hey Ted! The request for Federal Assistance STARTS with local government! States rights and all that! And a whole bunch of laws that prevent direct Federal help until asked for.

I don't restrict it to the media people. I live just outside of Philadelphia and the media mindset is the mindset of the vast majority of city residents as well. I doubt it's much different in NYC and D.C. I mean, just look at the way they vote. D.C. has been voting 90 percent Democrat for decades. Philly went 80 or 85% Kerry. Rank and file Philly residents can be very generous but they are also very comfortable having the first question out of their mouth be "Well, what's the Government going to do to bail us out?".

I think that is the one picture that infuriates me the most about this whole situation. When people are incompetent and others die, I think it's crminal.

"Gangsters have shot at FEMA, police, National Guardsmen, relief workers trying to rescue children from hospital rooftops and boaters and civilians trying to rescue children from attics. Gangsters have raped and murdered women and children. I suggest if Ted Kopell thinks he could do better, he get a job with FEMA. And all that was mentioned was that helecopters circled overhead then left. No mention of them being SHOT AT at all. Disgusting MSM spin. All for what? To BLAME BUSH.

Ted Koppel demanded to know why the Bush Administration did not send fleets of buses into New Orleans to evacuate those too poor to evacuate themselves"If he's going to ask that, he should have asked why Bush didn't just teleport them away? It would have been faster. Or he could have erected a giant bubble dome over the city. Or he could have just willed the storm away. Why didn't Bush do something?

so you are suggesting that this is the fault of the Federal government and the president?
Please explain to me how that is...
This is the fault of the Goverment of LA and NO for failing to act in a timely manner.
AS for the federal aid it takes time to get the logisitcs together to get all the material and equipment and personal down there... unless you know of a matter teleporter that the feds can use.

Safe water may be a problem, but judging by the bodies I've seen in the hurricane coverage, it will be about 6 months before starvation becomes an issue.
