You would THINK that SOMEONE in those groups would step up, take charge, and start to head them out in order... Well, if all is as posted a 20 y/o and a bunch of teenagers did. They took a bus of women and children to Houston. It was reported that they pooled their money to buy gas and diapers along the way. Reading what he said, this wasn't a polished college student either.

That's why the Astrodome has filled up so quickly. There were also church busses full of people that showed up before any of the Superdome busses even arrived. Judge Ekles said today that this is temporary. They will work to find temporary housing as soon as possible.

What the kids did with the bus was great.

Yeah. He was one of the first to get to the Superdome. They (apparently the NG or police) told him to just take a bus and go. They stopped along the way to pick up stragglers. They didn't have any government resources at all from what I understand, just the clothes on their backs.
There is a photo of him and the bus somewhere around here.

And kudos to him... Bush should meet him and give him a medal plus a scholarship...
What I mean is that there is ABSOLUTELY no sense of COMMUNITY, no one in New Orleans is even ATTEMPTING to lead..
Sure, there are a few anecdotal cases, but where are the ministers? Where are the "Community Leaders" that are all too anxious to jump in front of a TV camera when times are good?
