Ya know, the Amish really have something there with the way they take care of each other. Maybe we've just become too dependent on the gov't to solve our problems and need to seriously start looking out for each other. I know I like it when people do it for me.

Yes....do not depend on the government!

I remember hearing a minister from NYC say that he felt these disasters would be coming closer and closer together -- and the government will NOT be able to keep up with them.

I am very familiar with the Anabaptists. It is wonderful to be cared for by a loving community ... at the same time it comes at the cost of the radical individualism that is the hallmark of late 20th and early 21rst century USA. I reallly cannot see the majority of Americans opening their lives to the kind of scrutiny and peer pressure that is provided by caring community.
