28,000 National Guard troops are deployed to the disaster areas in Mississippi, Alabama, and to Louisiana, where SWAT teams are working to combat the looters and shooters in New Orleans. Additional 1400 National Guard troops are being deployed daily.
Shootings reported at a New Orleans hospital, rescue boats, and a military helicopter, while conditions continue to deteriorate at the SuperDome amid refugee deaths and chaos. Evacuation of New Orleans continues.
House Speaker Dennis Hastert has voiced serious doubts about rebuilding New Orleans with federal funds, while assuring the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that the United States Congress stands ready to help them in their time of need. New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin issued a "desperate SOS."
Doctors at two desperately crippled hospitals in New Orleans called The Associated Press Thursday morning pleading for rescue, "We have been trying to call the mayor's office, we have been trying to call the governor's office ... we have tried to use any inside pressure we can. We are turning to you. Please help us," said Dr. Norman McSwain, chief of trauma surgery at Charity Hospital, the largest of two public hospitals.
The Port of New Orleans is now open to shallow draft vessels. Congress is reconvening in an emergency session. International offers to assist the U.S. have been received from Russia, Japan, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, NATO and the Organization of American States.

Tropical Storm 12
My husband just called on his way home from work.
He works at the old Kelly Air Force base. San Antonio is expecting 25,000 refugees. Husband says that he could not get down the road from the wharehouse he works in .. there are tons of trucks with equipment to set up the temporary housing. LOTS of porta potties.. and at least 8 flat bed tractor trailers full of bundles of supplies. He can't believe the amount of action that has ensued since late this morning.
One thing for sure - the area he's working in is generally VERY empty - basically just the workers in the wharehouse facility he is in... so it looks like they'll be getting neighbors.. VERY soon. The news said that San Antonio may start receiving some refugees tonight.
They are there, or on the way - 30,000 National Guard from several States, and a brigade of 3,000 from the 82nd Airborne, inbound.
Yes I did. Thank you so much.
I registered and made a post. It's on the second page already. 9 views/no replies so far.
Thanks again!
The SAINTS are playing the Raiders tonight...they chartered two jets to leave town last week, and tooks all their computers and pertinent files, knowing they would not be back. I know a Saints coach.
Thanks, that's what I meant. Typing too fast for the brain.
Loving this! And she was a prime example of Democratic lip service and failure to see the real picture. Maybe she took lessons form Jesse Jackson?
Sometimes silence is best.
And no you are not cold and heartless.
And they took all the families with them...forgot to add that.
Ping...
Soldiers of fortune advertising on eBay. Nothing surprises me anymore. Thanks for that one!
If you look carefully, the vast majority of these women with children appear to be alone. A few have husbands, and I've seen a few men holding babies, but for the most part you see a couple of women together with multiple children. This isn't a suprise, because the welfare state we have created nation-wide encourages the breakup of the family.
In the article last night on Drudge about the chaos inside the dome, it talked about crack cocaine vials in the trash, blood on the walls, etc.. and talked about the murders and rapes inside the dome.... specifically mentioned one woman with 11 children who couldn't sleep for fear one of the so-called thugs would rape one of her "babies." The youngest rape victim (reported) was four years old.
This is why I think splitting them up -- OR -- if they were really organized and had time you would send single women and children to one location, single men to another and couples to another.
I like it
Funny how much people like you are willing to do for Iraqis.
True, but that was only said in self defense.

I turned it off when he said she was next -- do you have a synopsis???
That crazy woman along with the useless governor were as late as Monday trying to tell people that the water was safe, "It's just water". Just insane.
