I just spoke with Senator Chuck Hagels Communications Director Mike Buttry. There have been two recent rumors swirling about Senator Hagel. The first rumor I reported on The Buzz last week that Hagel was planning to leave the Republican Party to run as an independent candidate for president in 2008. Buttry told me, Thats not happening. Absolutely not.
The second rumor comes from Cindy Sheehan herself. Sheehan made a claim that amongst others, Senator Hagel had called her to express his support and love for her protest of the war and President Bush. I asked Buttry if this was true and he told me, Senator Hagel has never met with nor spoken to Cindy Sheehan. I asked him if Hagel supported her cause and again he made it clear Hagel does not.
We're seeing a growing trend of desperation and paper trail of lies from Cindy Sheehan. She mistakenly claimed President Bush was golfing during Hurricane Katrina. She even went so far as to claim the president's environmental policies are to blame for the disaster. And now, as the rest of the world moves on, Sheehan is trying to create the illusion of support for her cause.
Chuck Hagel wasnt the only Republican member of Congress on Cindy Sheehans list of supporters she claims telephoned her during her Texas protest of President Bush to offer their support and love for her efforts. Sheehan claims North Carolina House Republican Walter Jones also placed a call.
I just spoke with Congressman Jones on the phone. Like Hagel, Jones denies a phone call or endorsement of Sheehans political protest ever took place:
I was contacted about two weeks by some of Ms. Sheehans people. They asked, if I was called, would I accept a call from Ms. Sheehan thanking me for HJ 55. I told them that I would speak to anyone who wanted to call and discuss the bill, including Ms. Sheehan. However, I never received a call.
I did write a letter to her after her son died about two years ago. Ive sent letters to nearly all of the families of the close to 2,000 soldiers who have died. She also visited me in my office about two or three months ago with two other Gold Star Mothers for Peace. Ill visit with any parent who has lost family in the war.
BTW move NOLA fifty miles inland and rebuild.
Hmmm, who to believe, the "mavericks" Hagel and Jones, or the moonbat "Mother" Sheehan?
Gotta think about that one for a while.
The woman has been unhinged for a long time. It's disgusting how the media and other Leftist organizations have turned this woman's psychoses into a prop for their talking points.
Hagel has no credibility
If Windy Banshee did lie..... Hagel should call a press conference and set the record straight by calling her a LIAR.!
I don't know. By the time the "media" (including the blogs/small news sites) gets done with her she and her friends will be exposed for what they are for everyone to see. That has certain rewards...
Neither of them are credible. Who can know?
Just more evidence the Sheehan has hit the fan...
It depends on what the polls are showing. When Crazy Cindy was getting all positive, unchalleneged MSM coverage, Hagel piled on Bush. Didn't Hagel say that Bush should meet with Crazy Cindy?
Sen. Chuck supported her, before he opposed her.
It's seared in my memory.
He has a long history of lying thru his teeth and cinderbrain was the perfect venue for his distortions and lies.
Rino Hagel has done worse than this. Hagel co-sponsored an immigration proposal with Tom Daschle that was a disaster.
"Sheehan made a claim that amongst others, Senator Hagel had called her."
...when, actually, someone said "Cindy, there's a Lenders Bagle for you by the phone..."
I believe evidence of it can be found in that briefcase containing a fedora given as a souveneir on that Cambodia CIA swiftboat mission. This is the same briefcase that contains those medals that may or may not have been thrown over the White House fence, together with a signed Form 180.
Ya know, as distasteful as this whole Cindy Circus is, it is just hurting the Dems - if they want a far left commie to be the face of their party, I say let them. The history books will draw their Whigs comparisons and that'll be that.
Crazy Cindy's Crawford Circus represents the modern freak show Democrat party. I look forward to many of her kooky statements in the future.
