Reports are the pipelines from LA to AL,MS,GA,NC,VA, all the way to NY are at very low capacity. Is you area out of gas yet or being rationed? What are you hearing? This will be very helpful for those who are traveling in the near future.
Gas panic in Atlanta. 3/4 of the stations near me are dry and those that still have fuel have lines and prices from $3.19 to $3.59. Radio claims there's no problem and supplies will flow, but I anticipate we'll be dry after tonite for a few days.
Traveling in north Iowa, yesterday I saw as low as $2.49/gal, and this afternoon I saw rural stations at 2.99/gal !
Knoxville, TN--Filled up yesterday morning at $2.45. The price this afternoon was $3.09.
Knoxville, TN
Sunday: $2.59/gallon
Today: $3.21/gallon
+$.62/gallon in 3 days
Western SC; I filled up Monday morning for $2.31. This afternoon looonnnggg lines and $3.17. Glad I filled up Monday and hope things are back to normal by the end of the weekend to fill up again. The station nearest where I work was supposedly low on stock and expecting to run out this afternoon but that's just rumor.
Middle GA.- Gas went up from $2.59 to $2.95 while I was filling my tank. By mid-afternoon, all of the stations in town were completely out.
Just to the north of us, in Macon, gas was up to $4.50 before the supply ran out. Most of the stations in this area were dry the last I heard.
I saw it for $5.00 + in Atlanta tonight on MSNBC.
Upstate of SC some stations closed because no gas. The stations I passed on the way home from work has gas and short lines. $2.99, up from $2.37 Monday.
In Northern California I just paid 2.83 a gallon -- my Dad in New York is reporting 3.31 at the same time. We're not getting bitten (yet) out on the west coast? We're up about maybe 10 to 15 cents this week, but that seems better than a lot of people are experiencing.
In Orlando,FL area gas is ~$2.70 for regular unleaded but you can now only get midgrade or premium at many stations. Lines are long and getting longer. People are filling every available gas can. I waited half an hour. Strangely, the local AM radio station newscasts are not even mentioning the run on gas.
Omaha/Bellevue, NE $3.11 gallon.
Amazing concidence. You and I both posted from Knoxville only seconds apart. I take it you used 87 octane? I used 89.
Some stations in our area (west michigan) are at $3.48 per gallon, none are lower than $3.35. I think we're being shafted.
LOL.
When we were dating back in the early 70's, we used to go to a lot of movies. Boy ......... when she got out of those movies and we were on the way to the car a couple of blocks away........ wow......... five second nice deep bombs. It was great.
;-)
Akron, Ohio area, from $2.51 to $3.09.
I'll be walking to the store tomorrow. But I'll be driving back to school everyday next week. Metrocards would cost me 4 bucks per day (and an extra 2 for my daughter). It isn't costing 60 dollars/week yet to fill up, so I'll still be driving.
;-)
Chicago is also up about $.30-40 today. Lots of people filling up, no shortages observed in near west suburbs.
An abberation. I saw the tape locally - the station across the street from that place had it at $2.89 and one up the street at $3.39.
