Thank you...:-)

This caught my eye....nice leadership skill set from this airhead Governor

Gov. Kathleen Blanco bristled at suggestions Louisiana perhaps didn't make enough preparations for a devastating hurricane, possibly worsening the devastation.

"We begged all of those people, the mayors begged those people, the parish presidents begged those people to get out," she said at a press briefing when questioned about the state's preparedness efforts.

Sorry Gov....leaders DON'T BEG ....they LEAD.

I just got in and was rounding up the current updates to post on the thread (lucky post, yours, how fortuitous), when that caught my eye, too. I've heard several people say that about her, about her inability to be a leader in this tragedy.

I've been praying for days but to have your leader say "Let's Pray" instead of "Let's do ___ and ____ and _______" and "We're doing ____ and ____and _____" isn't going over too well with the locals.

I too ask where's the leadership. I'm taking about also at the parish/county level and others. In the old days, even the most corrupt politicians had only one choice in matters like this, get out there and make sure everyone knew about it. Whether doing things like running a rescue boat, shooting it out with looters, or leading groups people to safety, they knew their political future depended on doing something when nobody else would. They would all try to outdo each other. Even though it's opportunistic and selfish, many people get help.

These days all the people get from their local politicians is corruption and incompetence.

Not only that, but they need to lead in a timely fashion.

I saw that too. I was aghast. I told my 16 yo daughter and even she was aghast.

"Do you think your city was prepared?"

"Well we told them to leave."

It doesn't get much more ludicrous than this, and I believe this says it all about her leadership abilities.
