IMO Blanco is the last female governor Louisiana will have for a long time - perhaps the rest of this century.
And, when her conduct in this crisis is analyzed, there is a reasonable possibility that this will result in no female governors being elected unless they have first demonstrated "macho" executive abilities. Most likely taht will take the form of military service, i.e., which pretty much limits the field to female Republican veterans.
I don't think her ineptness has anything to do with her gender; rather her overall ineptness as a decision maker.
She has been truly horrible. At best, she's acted like a victim herself. If people are rescued, it will be no thanks to her.
I have to think that Condi Rice would definitely be up to the task if she was in this situation as a governor.
