Perhaps this has already been mentioned on some threads, if so please excuse the repeat: Couldn't one or more of the abandoned or closed military bases be opened for these people? There are dorms, dining halls, medical, etc.

Believe it or not, many of the military facilities are classified as substandard for housing civilians, but OK for the military. Your tax dollars at work.

I would think so but not sure if there are any bases vacant since the last BRAC was the middle of the 90's.

Martial Law has been declared in New Orleans -- what took so long.

Seems like Clinton used closed military bases for refuges from Bosnia.
