President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Basically that he wondered IF NO should be completely rebuilt.
I'm not sure what canal that it was
I missed that part
Thanks for the ping with the name of the paper! Now I know where to look for his cartoons :)
I see MSNBC isn't in that cartoon; guess they were already blown away.
How pitiful.....I'm trying to think of some good excuse why the patients haven't been evacuated. Oh! That's right. Snipers are shooting at the ones that are trying to save the patients.
What happened to Brit Hume and the Gang tonight?
FEMA is orchestrating a HUGE response, but I'm beginning to think they failed to plan for a HUGE Civil unrest situation, being led by the Druggies and Gangs...
They probably assumed law and order would be kept by loval authorities. Any other opinions?
That was what I wondered.
Well, I believe the Canal St. levee was the most recent construction. That may be why some of it's neighbors were unwilling to leave, they put too much faith in its integrity.
Don't laugh, but they have a "Camp Hillary" being referenced on the scanner.....but be lovely, like Camp Martha?
Gov. Blanco is a former teacher!
She taught for 6 months. That's all, 6 months, then started having babies. Yet she just carries on about how she knows how teachers feel. This was in the 60's or late 50's.
Long week-end? Getting ready early for the holiday, I guess.
Not sure, and I'm a little slow tonight - does the cartoon insinuate that they are all hanging onto CNN's coatails regarding the hurricane coverage? I'd have to agree.
Watching the NBC Nightly News. Wow. There are sooooo many people near the convention center WITHOUT FRESH CLEAN WATER. I don't understand why bottled water hasn't been dropped to these people. At this point, I don't blame any of them for breaking into any structure in search of food and beverage.
I heard that!
