Yes, that report sounds like a stale one left from last night.
Those dogs may not be starving......
"Does that make sense?"
No. It makes no sense to build below sea level, ever. Period.
The French originally built the quarter on a comparatively high spot. Before all the flood control and futile efforts to tame the Delta, New Orleans was on higher ground. It no longer is, and there has been too much development in the flood plain.
Save the historic district, keep it as a tourist attraction and national landmark. Move the rest of Newer Orleans to higher ground.
I have endured the same heartlessness on threads such as this one as well. IMO, those who choose to damn those who are fighting for their lives, either do not have a grasp on the horrifying reality these people are facing, or are just too high on their moral thrones to give a damn.
I'll say a prayer for your nephew, Diva.
Yes!
I can't get your link to load
No kidding, never thought of it that way.
Maybe a reason why he didn't evacuate. If he is on a fixed income, getting up and leaving for who knows how long may have been too much. Next, where is he going to put his pet.
Yeah truly heartbreaking and there are a few FReepers(?) posting in this thread on how these poor folks should know exactly where to go because it is "painfully obvious" what should be done and "painfully obvious" where they should all go. I wonder sometimes how some of these naysayer types manage to navigate a keyboard to type? You would think mouth-breathers like that would have trouble with simple manual skills.
Coast to Coast AM PING
First Hour: Author James Chiles will discuss New Orleans levees and water pump failures.
Is N.O. sinking, thus explaining some of the, "where's the water coming from"

Again! The same thing last night. prayers from Arizona.
250K still stranded?! Oh, dear Lord, help these people!
Family #2 staying with us in Texas(110 miles SW of Houston) made it back OK to Covington/Abita area. Took an entire day & topping off with gas(when they could find any)once inside La. No flooding but a HUGE mess with snapped and laid-over pine trees. They got a generator in Victoria, Texas last night as none are to be found in south La. Also took about 50 gallons of drinking water.
Still nothing on Slidell for our remaining evacuated family.
More as we get it.
So many dogs left behind. I can't see how I could ever leave my pet to try to survive in a house I did not think I could survive in. If you are that callous, why have a pet?
Thanks for warning me about the coverage on WSDU, if I had watched that dog being left behind, I would have trouble sleeping tonight. As it is, I am worried not only about humans who need rescue, but about the pets who need our help in these areas.

Try contacting CNN or Fox...They may help you get the message out.
Hey BK if you have a ping list would you please put me on it.
*Just hope you weren't the psycho nutjob that called me and five other people very filthy names in a screaming fit! (And didn't even have his own cell phone!)Ahhh, bad memories of a job long ago... Have a good night!*
You reminded me of a winter seasonal job I took with a nat'l. toy manufacturer right after I retired (I was bored). I was employed in their Call Center. Between the guys that called about the miniature cars (the racing stripes were wrong), the gays calling about the fabric on the highly priced collectible dolls, and the outraged southern Baptist ladies (no offense to the south or the Baptists; they rallied a big boycott on the company) about a pregnant doll (complete with a removable baby in the womb), it was unreal!!! I could tell some stories.
The American (& Canadian) toy-buying public is something to behold! I am glad to say that I now stay home full time and read FR!!
