World reacts to the damage wrought by Katrina (jihadists rejoice US civilian deaths)

VIENNA, Austria - From papal prayers to telegrams from China, the world reacted with an outpouring of compassion Wednesday for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in messages tinged by shock that a disaster of this scale could occur in the United States.

Islamic extremists rejoiced in America's misfortune, giving the storm a military rank and declaring in Internet chatter that "Private" Katrina had joined the global jihad, or holy war. With "God's help," they declared, oil prices would hit $100 a barrel this year.

French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder sent messages of sympathy to President Bush. Chirac, who has famously quarreled with Bush over the Iraq war, addressed this letter, "Dear George."

Pope Benedict XVI said he was praying for victims of the "tragic" hurricane while China's President Hu Jintao expressed his "belief that that the American people will definitely overcome the natural disaster and rebuild their beautiful homeland."

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II also sent a message to Bush saying she was "deeply shocked and saddened" at the devastation caused by the hurricane and expressing her condolences, "especially to the families of those who have lost their lives, to the injured and to all who have been affected by this terrible disaster."

Just reaction from when us Christians were rejoicing the 50,000 dead Muslims in Bam Iran.

Or the 200,000 dead Muslims in the Tsunami..

Oh wait...I don't remember any rejoicing.

Thanks for the good wishes....but where are the countries willing to help monetarily or in some tangible way?
We are always there for the world, but no one offers to help us.

- Did they rejoice at Iran’s misfortune when over 100,000 people died due to the "Sergeant Bam" earthquake? Maybe that happened due to "gods help". </sarcasm>

I'm surprised that at least one of the top jihad boys has not spoken out yet about how Allah has punished America and infidels for their sins.

" they declared, oil prices would hit $100 a barrel this year."

Yea. Wait till it does. Then the morons will be complaining they can't afford to be riding around in their white Toyoda pickups. Then they will blame Bush for the hurricane, the totally inflatted rise in price of oil. Of course I realize those that are sponsored by rich Saudis etc., will continue to have plently of money to fill their tanks.

It is really sad that some can react to this with such glee. Not surprising, but all the same sad.

They reacted to 9-11 with glee, so yes, this is par for the course.

To their eternal disgrace, there were some on this site who did. Although they were in a decided minority and were shouted down.

Yeah and look at the loss of life that his placed upon them since 9-11. The deaths on the enemy side is in the 100s of 1000s. The Bible says: He that is glad at calamity shall not go unpunished. The next natural disaster will hit a Muslim country hard and the death toll will be staggering.

Yeah, I could only shake my head at this...maybe 300,000 Muslims have died in natural disasters since 9-11, and the Jihadists think this is something to crow over?

There were some FReepers mad about the USA being called stingy and cheap on aid. I don't recall anyone here actually outright celebrating the deaths.

If it did happen, I hope it was a very small minority.
