"Aberation" is one of the kinder words when I think of Ma Richards. I read someone's comments on a post about how well Ma would have handled this disaster. Thank God we never had to find out when she was Governor.

You know what's funny...I thought people would complain about the numbers he gave ("That's too low; he needs to send MORE right NOW!") but lo and behold, all they complained about was his delivery.

It's always something...it's like Goldilocks and the TWO bears...never "just right".

National Review is NOT conservative. They have some conservative policies, others decidely not. Some are pro-Bush, some are not. What you have are elites largely located in Washington (this includes the FNC panel) caught up in "image" over the reality that this is a national crisis.

The President had his priorities straight. They, sadly, are too caught up in the politics.

No, the President did not look discouraged. Discouragement is Shep on FOX if you've watched him. he's completely losing it and needs a break.

I would have had him condemn the looting. I would have had him make some kind of statement that Americans are better than some of the pictures have shown. I would have had him say that the rescue workers are heroes...and I would have had him (without fully mentioning it) say that these rescue workers are the equal of any in our history.

There's your problem. You would have him tackling the small problems when he's responsible for tackling the big problems. Get your priorities straight! Oh, and by the way, GWB told you the priorities in his speech.

I shut off Brit's show when they started obsessing over useless photo ops the President should have engaged in.

There's a sickness within the Washington, DC, political culture, and it affects even the conservatives. One would think a natural disaster of the proportions of what we've experienced in the Gulf would be a call to reality, but no, some of these folks continue to live inside their bubble.

President Bush and his staff just need to get on top of the public relations aspect of these things. They are working hard behind the scenes, but in the meantime for the first day through early this morning, there were no speeches to the public made by the President. When he did speak, it was at a time when people were not at home to hear it and now it is left to the media to tell the public what he said!

It is hard I know, but people feel that they need immediate action by the President (the hand holding aspect). In fact I think he needs to address the public again in a more compassionate manner than he did today.

Freepers -- do not climb all over me, I am a Bush supporter, all I want to express is that this is not the only time they have reacted vs. acted on events.

It was a poor speech. Let's call a spade a spade. He can do better. He looked and sounded exhausted.

The word that our dear President spoke were like for those gripped in mortal fear for their future lives. His words were like gold and his appearance showed that he is a president that would work tirelessly, sacrificing himself for the good of the American people.

By the way, the "vacation" is an inaccurate description of President Bush's period in the Crawford White House. This was a time of intense, focused, and meticulous planning for the future of our nation. It was a "vacation" free from the distractions of Washington D.C. That "vacation" will shape the future for generations to come. President Bush deserves to look exhausted. At least he is not like Kerry who would have botoxed the fatigue from his face and have a $1000 haircut complete with dye job.

We have to get over this addictive fixation with Hollywood!

LOL.

I know what you mean about your blood pressure. Hey, we're armchair warriors and doing what we can.

September is going to be interesting. Able Danger, Judge Roberts and the blame game for this disaster in the Gulf. It's not going to be pretty. We'll have to eat well, exercise and make sure we up to the task :-)

You take care, Christian.

I was born, raised, and still live, in California, and I will tell you straight up, it's elitist, snobbish, and unacceptable that we've populated the Gulf with nearly 400 oil rigs, but won't bear to have ONE of the California coast. Well, for our pettiness and elitism, we're about to find out that haveng an uninterrupted blue Pacific horizon costs something -- about $3.999 a gallon, to be exact.

Nobody screaming about the price of gas has a leg to stand on when it comes to drilling in ANWR or off the California coast.

I did not hear the President's speech, but I looked over at NRO the Corner and the comments showed clear disappointment.

#####

If anyone had the time to review, one would find that the perfumed princes at NRO Corner are Always critical of President Bush and any speech, debate or action he ever makes. It must be reflexive for them, as in knee-JERK reflex. I totally disregard their effete remarks, and use their website purely for info that they glean from others.

No.

The President needs to do what he is doing.

Which is not spending time mugging for a camera while lives are in jeopardy. If you want a rhetorical "compassionate" speech, look for that in a few days when we aren't in a crucial period where a few hours could mean another death.

Sorry to be so blunt, but there it is. He can either play PR games, or he can save lives and attempt to stop a national gas crisis. He can't do both. I'm not interested in politics right now. The end.

And, btw, would have to disagree that a person taking charge, informing what is being done, and what will be done yet is not comforting.

Maybe I was expecting too much, but I wanted to see that inspiring confidence we saw when he stood on the rubble at Ground Zero. Today's Bush was not inspiring.
