Thank you once again, MFH.
The South needs all the prayers and help we can give them. I just get sicker as the day goes on. Lord have mercy.

Either way, the top officials take a hit. Personally .. I'd rather take a hit then take the chance of thousands of dying and losing an entire city
Which is exactly what happen

I'm not saying they shouldn't make a profit, but why in the heck does Conoco make a 56% profit in the second quarter of this year? Did you get a 56% increase in your salary for the second quarter of this year, with more increases coming in the remaining quarters?
To: Mo1
Yeah, if I were Mayor or Gov in the situation I would say safety first and forget the career if I were wrong. I prefer action to weighing the political winds.

No, grinding your axe in a thread that has nothing to do with borders is a "cheap shot."Neither is this thread about berating oil companies and gas retailers for their "obscene profits". Maybe you should practice what you preach.

Bush says:
And in addition to immediate drilling at ANWR and building more refineries and nuclear power plants we're going to dust off the old sedition and treason laws and start enforcing them. Got a problem with that?

More to the point is the historic political corruption in the state, which goes back to Huey Long.Which means that all those who lost their lives in this tragedy will be voting in the next election, and probably for the local incumbents.

Neither is this thread about berating oil companies and gas retailers for their "obscene profits". You have a point.

It's more related to the topic than the incessant whining about borders. Geez you guys are tedious.

Advocating secure borders is a "cheap shot"? Advocating secure borders to the exclusion of any other thought process of any kind is a "cheap shot" and a whole lot else. Listening to you people is like listening to a darn windup clown.

I don't know what the Pres will say. I hope it isn't the tired platitudes we have been tossing around but a program of action involving rebuilding the city of NO in an imaginative way. The hit on the oil/gas industry has to be part of it, what to do by way of getting free of dependence on oil in the long run.

Placeholding - will be back in time to catch the speech.

It's more related to the topic than the incessant whining about borders.I don't see how. The thread is titled "President Bush To Address Nation At 5 Pm". He hasn't spoken yet.
By the way, while I do "whine" about the borders, I don't do so "incessantly"; I'm too busy whining about other things.

It was all over the MSM the hurricane of a 5 was on its way for several days.
I live in Nevada & I heard about it w/out actually paying much attention. Guess the residents know it wasn't "crying wolf" now...

Well then, since I don't advocate secure borders "to the exclusion of any other thought process," you shouldn't have a problem with me. So why bother posting me?

I'm sure that on second thought that you realize getting to the living before they become corpses themselves is priority.
