Cafferty is one of those guys who's every word drips with cynicism, no matter what he's talking about. He used to be neutrally cynical, now he only goes after Republicans. He makes those potshots all the time, Wolf typically ignores them not knowing how to respond without violating his ethics as a journalist.

Since Herbert Hoover was in charge of European relief in the aftermath of WWI and began many of the Depression era programs that actually worked for FDR when he was in and Hoover was out, Public Relations, of the compassionate sort, has always been a Republican weakness. One can shrug it off and tell the media and America to stuff it, but I consider PR to be part of a presidents job and a duty that he and his administration owe to those who voted for him. It is proper that the president stays "out of the way", but he should not be considered to be "in hiding". "W", for better or worse, has some big PR problems and it will effect elections in '06 and '08, whether any of us like it or not. It's a fact of political life and its what made Ronald Reagan so popular and effective.

I knew of a "Bob Cafferty" once ... but I'm drawing a blank on this "Jeff" character you're talking about.

You can let CNN know what you think of this jerk here:

Be nice. After all, this jerk is just further proof of CNN's bias.

I just sent this to all of the anchors at CNN:

I have been very impressed with your coverage - until today. I am increasingly furious at your reporters and anchors placing blame on the federal government. What you are seeing now in New Orleans as well as for the past two days, is a total LACK OF PLANNING BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!! If the Mayor and Governer had a plan, and implemented it, citizen's lives could be sustained and unrest quelled during the first hours and days following the disaster. But, it is painfully obvious that after Katrina, as well as prior, there was no plan; especially as it pertained to the poor and shut-ins of New Orleans. Please keep your anti-Bush bias off the air... look at the Mayor and his ineptness for the reason as to why this is happening! That is the REAL story as to why we are seeing death and disruption in the streets of New Orleans.

Wolf had a black guy on the air describing his trip from NO to Houston. Wolf kept pestering the guy with leading questions trying to get the guy to complain, but the guy had nothing but nice things to say about everyone involved in the relocation effort.

Cafferty should be watching Wolf Blitzer interview the FEMA Director now. Michael Brown of FEMA According to him, FEMA didn't even know there were people in the Convention Center until a few hours ago when for the first time, the New Orleans Mayor informed them and asked for food and assistance.
