Cafferty Sticks It To President Bush Live on CNN (Calls W Out)
CNN | 8-30-05 | my favorite headache

Posted on 08/30/2005 2:41:10 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

Although CNN is CREAMING FOX and MSNBC and the worthless CBS,NBC,ABC networks....Jack Cafferty just took a major cheap shot on-air with Wolf Blitzer.

He asked Wolf "Where is President Bush? Is he still on vacation during this disaster?" Wolf answered him and said he returns to D.C. tomorrow.

Cafferty said " Ahhh that's nice of him to come back to work in the middle of a national tragedy...and leave his month long vacation"

Wolf said zero in response. This was the ultimate in cheap shots because anyone with a brain knows that Bush can't go there right now. The Secret Service could not protect him and there is zip he can do personally being there as chaos and rescue operations are going on.

He has organized one of the biggest domestic relief operations with the pentagon in history.

What more does Cafferty want? Asswipe...

I guess it's time for a history lesson:

Back in August of 1992 I was driving back to Denver from a relaxing visit to Vail - descending through the foothills into a driving snow flurry - listening to the radio reports of Hurricane Andrew. During the prior week I had been attending a conference in Denver and recall watching Pat Buchanan throw red meat at the convention where G.H.W. Bush was nominated for a second term. As I drove and heard the reports of the hurricane's damage - I turned to my (then) wife and said "I hope Bush isn't tone deaf on this one". As it turned out he was - and the image of incompetence that was displayed, whether accurate or not, did significant damage to his re-election effort.

The scene which played out on CNN which I recall most vividly was of the Dade County Emergency Services Director - a woman whose name I cannot recall. About 5 days after the hurricane landed she was being interviewed on television and was distraught to the point of having a virtual breakdown on television. The interpretation of that event was "Bush doesn't care". I interpreted that event as "Maybe Dade County should have chosen a more capable person to be their Emergency Services Director. By definition - the only time she was really going to be needed was under great stress and in times of crisis - and to break down like that was prima facie evidence she was not the right choice." In any event - the press played this incident with great sympathy and the subtext was that Bush was either indifferent or incompetent.

I think G.W. Bush understood this object lesson after his father's re-election campaign. Certainly Bill Clinton did. Once in office he appointed James Lee Witt and made FEMA into an effective machine.

Karl Rove gets this - so I'm confident the response will be a good one. However - the lesson has to be this: Never underestimate the willingness of the press or your political rivals to turn a natural disaster into a partisan weapon.

"Before joining CNN, Cafferty anchored the News at 10 on New York's WB-11 from 1992-1998, where he reported on some of the major business stories of the 1990s. From 1989-1992, Cafferty anchored Newsline New York, a nightly news and interview format program on WNYW-TV, as well as co-anchoring the evening broadcast for Fox 5 News at 7. "

Cafferty Weaseal worked at Fox once too, it seems.

Don't know what happened to Cafferty.

He seems to have gone "big time". And he doesn't have Chuck Scarboroughs influence anymore.

As pointed out on Rush's show today, the President was castigated for showing up in Florida after a Hurricane, showing support and handing out water.

The Demo-Nazi's were then saying that he should leave because he was getting in the way and hindering the recovery effort.

You can never make these morons happy.

Why don't these anti-American people just leave and start their own country and be done with it?

Parasites can't leave their hosts.

Seriously, what the heck were you doing watching CNN?

Because all the Freepers on the Katrina threads say they are doing the best coverage. But I can't deal with Cindy commercials and Cafferty for no amount of better coverage. CNN is AWFUL for a conservative!

I would like to see the following things happen ASAP.
1. Call up all reserves now
2. Institute the draft within 6 months
3. Bring in the Navy to aid in the rescue/recovery-helicopter carriers, small boats, seabees etc. in the Gulf.
4. Close the borders, use the military, national guard, etc.
Declare martial law within 1 mile of the border. Shoot to kill, if necessary to gain control.
5. Bush get back to Washington, now. Organize the country to respond to the crises we now have.
6. Cancel all BRAC proceedings, we'll need all the bases.
7. Cancel all leaves in the military and emergency units.
8. Collect all illegals already in the country, and deport them.
9. Call Congress back to session early.
10. Put the nation on red alert, I'm sure there getting ready to hit us now while we are distracted.

And it explains why Fox is leading in the ratings. I hope Wolf was pondering this during his silence.

Probably trying to get MRC to raise his name recognition -- cruising for a new job at Fox, maybe -- they'll hire any worthless lib, seemingly.

My guess is Cafferty's never lived in a flood zone. As someone who has let me just say Cafferty knows Jack. 43 will go when it's prudent, Cafferty. Until then visits from pols, any pols, are a lot less desirable than things like water, food, shelter and medical care.

Was not Jack Cafferty the pos that hit-and-run a guy on a bicycle (think he was a bike messenger) in NYC about a 1.5 years ago?

Luckily, there were witnesses that got the tag number off his Cadillac and turned it over to the cops.

NYC/NJ locals will remember Jack, who for years did local news for WNBC with drooling airhead Sue Simmons. Sue doesn't seem to have a political bone in her body, and Jack himself was Sue Simmons lite.

I had no idea he had caught on with CNN. He had so little gravitas here - he was a little piece of news/entertainment fluff - I'm shocked he could catch on with a serious (albeit deluded) news network.

Yuuucchhh.
