They'll have deaths on their hands at the Dome within 48 hours at this rate -- and that's no exaggeration.
There doesn't seem to be any way to get them out.
It's become a tomb.
They've already have had deaths in the dome, even excluding the suicide jumper. I have to wonder if NOLA is actually completely cutoff right now by road. I realize the need to devote all the heavy military type trucks to rescue efforts, but why hasn't a bus convoy been sent in to at least begin ferrying person out? If they don't want persons wading through the water outside the dome, why not get the military in there to put in a pontoon bridge to the elevated freeway just a couple of blocks away? Sure setting up enough evac facilities has some logistic hurdles, but wasn't there a plan for such? This is the disaster FEMA planned for for training purposes? How hard is it to set up tents and porta potties on the grounds of the state capitol? Why not temporarily commandeer LSU's basktball coliseum? Their athletic gyms, their student rec gyms and racquetball courts?
OK, finally we are getting info of people in Kenner climbing on evac buses, have been loading for 3 hours.
