Isn't it though. Somehow I think that this one will be on one of those Engineering Disaster shows on History channel in the years to come.

THe daunting task now is how to clean up. The simple answer is get stuff running and pump the water out --unfortunately I do not see that as a viable option. The reason being it is not just water any more.

What is now pouring into Downtown will be a toxic soup of chemicals, rotting corpses, disease, etc. There isno way they can just pump that out into Lake Ponchartrain and the Mississippi. The ecological disaster would be unmatched in history. THen once they do figure out how to get the water out, and where the water goes, what is left behind will be contaminated for years to come.

New Orleans has now become Love Canal to the Millionth power. I want to believe the big Easy will live on, but I do not see how they can do it without tearing down or gutting every single building in the city.

It will be years before NO is habitable again.
