either flooded or possibly undermined and not safe to use until someone can drop in by chopper and examine it. The airport is in Kenner. Isn't this failed pump thing going to put it under for the long term?

I believe so. I think the Kenner location is thought to be concrete slabs floating on liquified soil and thus would be unsuitable for use.
