Last night there was a long discussion about that video, the Winn Dixie looting and looting in general. It got VERY heated with a few freepers saying it was justified. A number of people got sent to the corner.
I can't explain it,but looting and its rights and wrongs just doesn't hit my radar this morning. I really don't care.
This is shocking, this entire thing, it is just unbelievable.
OOPSIE---I guess it is a good thing I wasn't here for that discussion..LOL
My very first instinct when seeing the footage, was "Dang---those poor people just have to get what is available"...then I found out they stole it, and police just WATCHED, and I became angry...
Angry because they had been warned about the Hurricane, and should have stocked up if they were gonna stay...and if not, at least make an attempt to PAY for it...
NOw, I am wondering if, since I am not living that nightmare, I would do that...and the answer is NO.
HOwever, I am going to refrain from being judgemental since I am NOT in their position.
I just heard a report about looting of a Walgreens (in addition to the Winn Dixie yesterday) and roving gangs of looters, then in the very next breath, they tell people not to return to their homes.
It would seem looting coverage would drive up the desire to have residents return home to protect what is left of their belongings. Last year in FL, I returned almost immediately to protect home & property.
