Unfortunately, too many folks only know how to say why something cannot be done, instead of just working through it and accomplishing something, even if it only gets you 80 percent there. Because now the evacuation process is much, MUCH more difficult - and the clock is ticking before fresh water runs out and diseases break out.

Yep. So now we're deploying limited resources to evacuate 100K people, when we should've been directing those same resources at far fewer people. It slows down the overall effort, because SAR folks are spread too thin.

I'm just watching the video on WWL. They were showing people they were rescueing from the flooded houses. They showed a poor old man they were helping out of the boat. He was dressed in just a tshirt and his underwear. He looked so tired and so sad. It just brought tears to my eyes. How many people thought the worst was over and laid down to sleep and then woke up to their houses inundated with water?
