I know I hope enough of us here will remember her shameful behavior when her reelction comes up. You are right, all of the previous city leaders and planners are the problem. This is shameful and criminal the absolute lack of planning for this.

No, no one has heard much of anything. They're calling Slidell a black hole. No communication of any type, not even ham radio is coming out of there.

Reporting more dead. Said 80 dead (don't know if they meant 80 more dead or total so far). A whole apartment complex in MS was destroyed and swept away.

I keep seeing FNC flashing "possible 26 billion damage" I predict this storm will cost way over 260 bilion.
Have not heard from Brother in Bogalusa also Convington. 90 year old aunt went north to Miss. with neighbor but no word. Riveridge must be gone. Thanks for links.
Let me paraphrase.
May they pleasure themselves manually.
Americans were all over the place during that tsunami. We know that's how it is. And Americans will handle this hurricane because they never run to OUR aid.
Not that we want them.
If a hurricane this size hit anywhere else on earth it would have been catastrophic. Sure, we've got some deaths. But if this hurricane hit say, Southeast Asia, the casualties would have been in the millions.
You know it and I know it. They don't build their houses to code, they don't think ahead, dictators and despots tend not to think in the long run.
This morning I am shocked at the extent of the damage.
Maybe I shouldn't be. It was all forecasted.
You know what else occurs to me? It's a damn, damn good thing those people were evacuated to the Superdome.
Damn good thing because most of those people were very poor or homeless. And most of them would be dead this morning had the FEDERAL government not intervened.
THIS is the story shoddy journalists should be investigating.
