Looting is looting. The government and insurance companies will take care of those who file claims and fill out applications for assistance. It is NEVER permissable to help yourself to other people's property.

What? If that were true liberals would be without power.

Never? That's a pretty absolute statement for a time of emergency. I think if you had someone with a medical condition, it would be permissable to obtain needed supplies by any means possible. One would, of course, attempt to make restitution at a later time, but I would certainly liberate insulin or heart medication from an abandonned pharmacy if it was truly needed.

Not true.

If you're protecting the public good, you have the defense of public necessity. If you're protecting your own life or that of a third party, you have the defense of private necessity.

The diference amounts to, that in private necessity, you have to reimburse the owner, public necessity you don't.

Well, uh, I'd tend to agree with you, but there's this pesky 16th Amendment thing...

On a more serious note:
As a property owner, I'm willing to make the looters a deal. They can have whatever they can carry as long as they're willing to take a heavy dose of hot lead along with 'em.
