"Shep Smith reporting right now about all the people still partying in bars, he's right on Bourban St. and says people all over the place, none evacuating!! Amazing!"

Kind of like sticking up your middle finger to God.

Is it time for a new thread? This is really moving fast.

It's all beyond words at this point...

Janice Dean on Fox has been on the brink of tears all day.

I'd fire her ass on Monday.

The bridges are now closed. There is no way out.

The govenor just said that its going to hit mid-morning so there's still time to get out. That sounds a little off to me.

You're right: the speed-up mean a hit at roughly 4AM now. And the bridges typically close once sustained winds reach 50 mph -- and that's starting to occur at the end of the delta already.

Janice seems to be a very emotional person. I remember back when the tsunami hit around Christmastime, and Janice thought one of her old friends had become a victim because no one had heard from him. She was on Fox & Friends talking about it at the time, and she broke down in tears. As it turned out, her friend had left the area just before the tsunami hit, so he was okay.

I know that reporters aren't supposed to show emotion when reporting, but to me, it is refreshing to see that all those in the news business are not simply a bunch of emotionless robots.

There IS another place they could go besides Bourbon Street. Personally, I would find the nearest church and use my party time for prayer time. I just can't imagine being sloshed at a time like this.

I sent Fox News an article from last year where the owners of the Super Dome said that he did not know if it would withstain 200 mph winds because of the tall buildings that could result in wind sheer problems.

Yeah, you may be right about those 2 but I'd be amazed if there were many more.

Yep... Cat 1 accounts come to mind immediately from that last storm.

This is unimaginable to me.

when the thunderstorms start coming in, those people standing on that superdome line are going to riot.

What is your problem?

Not content to cast a bad light on conservatives yesterday by ripping up a pro-Bush supporter's sign at the Crawford rally, you now are posting racist crap.

What a cretin.

This is just horrible. Prayers going out for all of those in the path of this monster Hurricane. I have family in Baton Rouge, hopefully they are all safe.

Yeah, I was just looking at one that shows shipping containers on the wharf. Be interesting to see how they do in a stiff wind.

For those of us who aren't from the area, is Plaquemines Parish east of New Orleans proper? I know from reading earlier that Jefferson Parish is west of NO, south of Lake Ponchartrain. The stuff I'm reading on here from Plaquemines sounds positively apocalyptic.

I hope you keep posting that link on every thread. And I wonder just how many threads it will take to get through this?

This is looking like The Perfect Hurricane, isn't it?

I wouldn't say Mobile is in the clear. It just won't catch the eye. It should still catch hurricane-force winds though.
