Was it last year or two ago that the alledged path was to NO and they said get out. A friend of mine and her family were in traffic for almost 18 hours just getting from NO to Houston.

Bad deal ....folks need to gas up, get out and take extra fuel , water , food etc as the trip out can be worse than the storm in some ways......

Absolutely! They need to adhere to all of your wonderful suggestions.

However, the best way out is north...I 55, and I 59.
Going west has been clogged up.

Personally, I would head to P'cola. ;o)

Yep. I'm a pilot, and flew out in front of jeanne.
We passed over 150 miles of traffic on I95 that didn't move at all.

It may not be too lare to leave the area, but it will be hard.
