It is a "You Can't Say That" statement. It isn't a stupid statement, because it's true, but it's a stupid thing to say unless you're ready to face down the pack of baying hounds.
Michael Savage analyzed the statement and decided it was a reasonable and proper thing to say. Sort of like the old question about if one could have put a bullet in Hitler's head in 1933 before he developed into the monster he became would it have been right? Of course it would have. And this little parrot-head down there in Vene. is looking very, very dangerous. He needs to be taken out.
I really wish people that make gutsy statements like Robertson did would not back down from them. Hurts the cause. The weasal Lott was the same way. Should have said "Screw You" like Delay does... you can't apologize, it's like appeasement, they just want more once they taste blood.

No need to write anything, you have said it so well.
Thank you.

I tuned into the 700 Club today to see if Pat had anything further to say on the issue. He implied a comparison between this situation and the one theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer found himself in during Nazi Germany. Bonhoeffer allegedly said if you watched a car speed toward a group of people, would you try to stop the car, or wait and console the victims afterward? Bonhoeffer chose the former, and joined a group that was plotting to assassinate Hitler. This landed him in one of Hitler's prisons before it cost him his own life.
