That is the point! Freedom of speech is one of our most cherished rights. The attacks that many FReepers engaged in over the last few days against a good conservative like Pat Robertson, were an outrage. Whether he is the head of CBN or not, freedom of speech, is freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. He wasn't about to be tossed in jail for issuing his fatwa against Chavez. He was perfectly free to say something stupid, and he used his freedom to say something really stupid. Protecting his freedom to say something stupid shouldn't mean denying my freedom to call him an idiot. The freedom to call an idiot an idiot, whether he is the head of CBN or not, is one of my most cherished rights.
