Louis Farrakhan Speaks in Indy (some surpises, some not)
WISH-TV ^ | August 19, 2005 | WISH-TV

Posted on 08/19/2005 7:55:43 AM PDT by southlake_hoosier

Thursday night, a man beloved by some Americans and reviled by others, spoke in Indianapolis.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan appeared at Martin University. He offered his views of the world right now, and his plans to revisit and improve upon his most famed event.

Expect to hear that phrase -"Million More Movement"- many times in the next 2 months.

It's been 10 years since the "Million Man March" on Washington DC, in which hundreds of thousands of black American men gathered in the nation's capitol.

Now Minister Louis Farrakhan aims to repeat the impact of the march, with a new message and a wider range of participants.

Farrakhan's Indy appearance came before a packed house, announced at 2,000 people. The lecture started with his view of America at the moment, a condition he termed "spiritual rot". "The greatest nation in the last 6,000 years is experiencing a fall," Farrakhan said.

The message was often more personal than political, calling on listeners to seize control of their lives and their community. "During the darkest days of slavery, we never killed each other like we are doing today," Farrakhan said.

As for the new movement he hopes to build by October, Farrakhan says the aim is simple. "It stands for reparation and repair of a broken people who are in need of healing," he said.

Farrakhan says he wants men and women of all ages, races, and religions to participate in the rally in October.

In 1995, the call was specifically and solely for African-American men.

Similar article posted on Indy Star web site. Although he still does not support US policy, he is moving more towards the ideals that Bill Cosby has been speaking about lately. Wonder if he will get a similar repsonse? Libs seems to be moving more midstream

"Thursday night, a man beloved by some Americans and reviled by others, spoke in Indianapolis"

Minor correction to the leading sentence is required:

"Thursday night, a man beloved by very few Americans and reviled by most, spoke in Indianapolis"

Do you think that WISH-TV is a bit biased?

Check the Indy Star version. Can't post it here because of policy.

Louie has been speaking this same stuff for years. Until he says "We need to quit killing" instead of "We need to quit killing each other", no one is going to take him seriously.

Reminds me of Paul Shanklin's parody 'Million Man Math Made Easy' starring 'Calipso' Louie.

Hilarious.

Did he do his numerology rap? I remember during the first Million Man March that CNN was broadcasting his speech live but had to cut away because he sounded so crazy.

"Reminds me of Paul Shanklin's parody 'Million Man Math Made Easy' starring 'Calipso' Louie."

That was fantastic. I hope Rush plays it again.

Between his Million Man March and Midnight Basketball crime has been virtually eliminated in the black inner city neighborhoods

Thank You Louie and the Democrat Congress under Billy boy

more from the speech...

With so many industrial jobs leaving the country, Farrakhan said, blacks are in danger of being further disenfranchised if they don't strive for a decent education.
...
"We are not being trained to be critical thinkers," he said. "American people are being reduced to sheep, easily led in the wrong direction."
...
Decaying sexual mores, drug use, imprisonment, AIDS and gun violence also are contributing to society's failures, Farrakhan said.
...
Addressing the women in the audience, Farrakhan said: "Today the scientists of evil have dressed you so that your underwear is in plain sight and you have lost your shame. Men see you only as an access to pleasure."

Have to read the Indy Star version too. Don't know if i can legally post a link here or not. I was thinking there was a problem doing that.

The Indy Star version is not as biased as this one.

This may be heresy here on FR, but I have always respected MUCH of what Farrakhan says about taking personal responsibility for ones life. Alot of what he says is very conservative, and then he goes off like a moonbat against whitey and the JOOOS.
