I hope that the human toll is low, and that those involved have the strength to handle the devastation to their lives and their communities.

I'm in Green Bay. There were twisters on the ground in the county just to the southwest of us.

My son is with his National Guard unit in Baraboo tonight, awaiting transport on Sat. to Volk Field, where they will fly to MS for training for deployment.

I talked to him tonight and he said they had had a tornado warning there..........things were settling down a bit but he said it was still pretty wild.

The radar all evening has been just wild. Red everywhere.

Tornado hits Wisconsin city; witness says `sky just exploded'

TODD RICHMOND

Associated Press

STOUGHTON, Wis. - A tornado destroyed or damaged dozens of homes as it roared through this southern Wisconsin city late Thursday. At least three people were hospitalized by the twister that hit as severe storms blasted their way across the central and southern parts of the state.

A witness captured the Stoughton tornado on his camera phone.

"The sky just exploded. It was debris everywhere," David Murray of Stoughton told WISC-TV of Madison. "It moved across the road and then it just grew, it kept growing and growing and debris was just everywhere."

Others told WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee that clouds of debris were dropping paper and shingles in Waukesha County, just west of Milwaukee, that apparently was carried from Madison area storms, some 50 miles away.

State Emergency Management spokeswoman Lori Getter said the storms damaged 80 to 90 homes in the Stoughton area. Three people were hospitalized, Getter said, but the extent of their injuries was unknown
