Shaffer Provides New Information on Hannity and Colmes - Thursday
Hannity and Colmes | 08-18-05 | mercy

Posted on 08/18/2005 6:43:48 PM PDT by mercy

Tonight Shaffer, with his usual concise and direct style, gave us new tidbits to ponder.

In response to Hannity's question regarding how and why the infomation was not passed along Shaffer offered, "A two star general repremanded him in his strenuous insistance that the information regarding Atta and three others should be passed to the FBI. He was blocked and blocked completly by this two star who went so far as to upbraid him and remind him he was a general and Shaffer was not. "

This is one more significan blow to the criminal actions of the 9/11 CYA commission and perhaps a certain general. I can't wait till his name comes out. Perhaps he is no longer in the chain of command as sure he would still be working to block this coming out.

Although it didn't get much notice on FR earlier today information from Shaffer stated that the Bush Administration had known about these revelations since two weeks after 9/11. Very nearly four years. evidently they chose to let sleeping dogs lie. Probably part of Bush's 'New Tone in Washington' plan.

Officer Says 2 Others Are Source of His Atta Claims
Washington Post ^ | 8/19/2005 | Dan Eggen

Posted on 08/18/2005 7:47:30 PM PDT by americaprd

The former intelligence officer who says that a Defense Department program identified Mohamed Atta and three other hijackers before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks said yesterday that many of his allegations are not based on his memory but on the recollections of others.

Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, who has been on paid administrative leave from the Defense Intelligence Agency since his security clearance was suspended in March 2004, said in a telephone interview that a Navy officer and a civilian official affiliated with the Able Danger program told him after the attacks that Atta and other hijackers had been included on a chart more than a year earlier.

But because he was not intimately familiar with the names and photographs of suspected terrorists, he did not realize that hijackers were listed until it was alleged to him after the attacks, Shaffer said. All of the charts that could support his claims have disappeared, he said.

Shaffer said yesterday that his overall allegations were based on his recollections and those of two others -- Navy Capt. Scott Phillpott and a civilian employee of the former Land Information Warfare Activity at Fort Belvoir, whom he declined to identify. Phillpott did not respond to telephone messages left yesterday with the Navy and at his home

more - catch the spelling

Phillpott told the Sept. 11 panel in July 2004 that he recalled seeing Atta's name briefly on an Able Danger chart in spring 2000, which was before Atta obtained a visa and entered the United States. The commission, noting a lack of supporting evidence, said Phillpott's account "was not sufficiently reliable to warrant revision of the report or further investigation

I know nothing about the military, or anything about the number of two stars anywhere.

Actually I believe that McPeak was Chief of Staff of the AF at the time, and I have no doubt that the POS might have been the general in question. Reminding the more junior officer that he was a general is McCrap's style.

So it's Phillpott, not Philpott. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm happy we now have more Freepers on this case. Good catch.

"I know nothing about the military, or anything about the number of two stars anywhere."

But I'll bet you know the quadratic equation, the trigonometric functions, and how to extract square roots using logarithms, and how to teach them {;o)

I'm still trying to catch up on this story. I spent too much time loathing that pro-commie, anti-military, anti-America, anti-Semitic woman Sheehan.

I like that military term we have learned in this story. Risk averse.

Very high brow and yet eviscerating term for pussy.

"If I had to guess at the identity of the general, I'd lean toward Merrill McPeak."

Why should the ID of this General remain a secret?

He must know who it is? The General knows knows who he's talking about so why can't we know? May there is a BS factor going on here.

If Phillpott already testified about it - this is even bigger than we thought.

They are going after Shaffer BIG TIME.
Compare the way the scumbags at the Democrat Washington Post treat Shaffer versus, say, Joseph Wilson.

Yeah, I stay off those threads. I go to Crawford and wave placards at her. Much more satisfying.

I thought so. My HS math teachers were the very best. In 12th grade alone we covered college algebra, trigonometry, analytic geometry, matrix theory, vector algebra, and an introduction to both differential and integral calculus (we used the text book by Tom Apostol that freshmen at Cal Tech used). We have too few good math teachers today.

Let the chips fall where they may.

I'd like the truth and the goods on Clinton, no matter what the fallout

Agreed..............EVEN if some compromised weenies from the right side of the aisle go down as well........and therein lies the current struggle.

Shaffer is a gentleman. He knows the name of the risk averse general will come out. He would rather not do it himself.

Besides it's better not to hand the press everything on a platter. They like it better if they think they are digging up a story rather than being spoon fed.

It's also better to measure the flow judiciously rather than just tip over the entire slop bucket.

Ya know, I was just thinkin about that - at first I thought 'no way would he risk his career... but, let's say, if he is really still on admin leave and realizes he has nothing to lose - and now that he got his promotion has worked out an early retirement...(i.e. an ok) he timed it just right came out with this to get the ball rolling (because Capt Phillpott already testified and has to answer that those charts existed) Shaffer will become yesterday's news soon. And this big heavy ball will start rolling and rolling.
