Stockholm, August 18: A waitress in Sweden thought her elderly customer was joking when he offered her his Porsche as a tip, but he kept his word and gave her the keys to the car, daily Aftonbladet reported on Thursday.
I thought at first he was joking with me, 19-year-old Josefin Justin told the paper.
Justin was waiting tables at the Njuraanger cafe in sundsvall in Central Sweden when the man, who had recently retired and was dining with a group of gentlemen, asked her age.
When she told him, he said I would get his Porsche as a tip.
At first I was a little suspicious but I didnt get the feeling he was hitting on me or anything, he just seemed really nice, she said.
She got his phone number and the next day when she called him, he said he remembered his generous offer. Accompanied by her father, she went to the mans house to pick up her new car.
It turned out to be 1979 Porsche 924 worth 4,000 dollars.
It needs a little work, a paint job among other things, but we checked it out and everything was fine, Justin said.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, told the paper he could not really explain why he gave her the car.
I was just sitting there in the restaurant and looked her in the eyes and saw an angel and thought to myself the Porsche, she should have it, he said.
Asked if he had any regrets, he replied, no, absolutely not.
Well I think it was really nice of him. He had the car, didnt use it and found a nice person to give it too. There doesnt have to be any other motive than that.
He was happy to have made her day, and she was happy to be given a generous gift. It can be as simple as that. : )
I think you mean "Høøtërs" - this is Sweden, after all.
:^)
When I was waiting tables, I had all kinds of offers. All kinds.
I took up some of them. I got to fly in sport planes, ride in sailboats, and even got job offers...one as a stock broker.
If I weren't pursuing a career in comedy as well as paying the bills with a regular job, I would be back to waiting tables. If you get in a good place, it can be a lot of fun.
Its a gift horse.
It may only be a 4K porshe but she has transportation and it is all hers.
Who knows, this "feel good" story may get her 15 minutes converted to a modeling career or perhaps Porshe HQ will notice it and see her as a good promoter.
Either way, it was a good deed even if nothing else comes of this. (though I did think it was just neato that her father went along to chaparone the pickup.)
That's a 26 year old car...not 16...
this isn't a woman:
THIS s a woman!
ROFLMAO!
I was thinking to myself as I came upon your post: when I was selling auto parts the same part that fits an Audi Fox and a VW Rabbit also goes on a 924 but the cost is 3 times with the Porcse part number instead of the Audi/VW number.
I would actually let this beauty sit in the drivers seat...without the keys, of course.
That's called the "Porsche Tax"
Dang, time sure flies, doesn't it?
"I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job."
I was thinking of that when I first saw the article.
Porsche really screwed up by putting their logo on that car.
>>I would actually let this beauty sit in the drivers seat...<<
In my LAP!!!
I hope it wasn't his wife's car.
