FBI probe uncovers a list of potential Southland targets and suggests a connection between prison groups and Islamic extremists.
A Pakistani national has been arrested by authorities in connection with a far-reaching investigation of a possible terrorist plot targeting any of nearly two dozen locations in Southern California, including National Guard recruitment centers, law enforcement sources said Monday.
The suspect, identified as Hamad Riaz Samana, 21, of Los Angeles, was quietly taken into custody last week by counter-terrorism officials as part of a probe that began with the arrest of two men in Torrance suspected of robbing gas stations. The investigation, sources said, has involved more than 100 FBI agents and Los Angeles police detectives as well as counter-terrorism specialists with other federal and local agencies.
While little is known publicly about the JIS, as intelligence officials call it, the group has been around for several years and has a presence at Folsom State Prison, where one of the three men in custody, Levar Haney Washington, 25, served time for assault and robbery, according to law enforcement sources.
The JIS is only one of the prison-based groups being investigated for possible ties to Islamic extremists.

gas the whole prison
Its common practice in Los Angeles County to release prisoners early due to overcrowding. It 'works wonders' if you are a criminal.
'Twas in post #30, but you're right. The author should've felt constrained to give us that full name when he introduced the acronym.

Yeah, but I thought Osama said the blue states were going to be safe...

Maybe some brave reporter will actually mention al Fuqra, aka the Nation of Islam, aka the Black Muslims.
One suggestion.
Since most of us read from right to left, change the pictures.
Put the Hitler picture on the left and the Ben Laden picture on the right.
That is, also, how time flows on paper.
As noted by another Freeper, this will drive the FR Jihadists even more insane.
"Jimiyat Islam Sahid
Are they an Nation of Islam offshoot?"

"And JIS is the acronym for?????????????????"
Jimiyat Islam Sahid
I haven't had enough coffee yet to decode/translate this:

CS thanks for providing this link. Scary reading for those of us who live in California. However, it is not surprising to those of us familiar with al Fuqar aka the Nation Of Islam.
I fervently hope the feds are paying attention to this behind the scenes. I understand the difficulty of publicly raising suspicion (until some actual plots, like this one, are uncovered) but I sure hope that people have been monitoring these prison groups for some time.
I'm sure that these groups have been and are being monitored.
In fact when we have these discussions and identify these groups on Free Republic, that probably forces more scrutiny and a quicker "cleansing" response.
The last thing the investigators want is another Able Danger flare up across the nation. One can only imagine the uproar if these acts had been carried out. Then, when, the American public found out about the recruitment in jails and encouragement in the mosques after the recruits left jail.
Then, when word got out that these jihadists and their groups had been identified and discussed on Free Republic for months and maybe years, that might make Able Danger seem like a tempest in a tea pot.
It was probably no accident or coincidence that the Jihadists in Lodi were rooted up and taken out of action shortly after the data/articles were posted on FR and other conservative sites.
The other benefit of these discussions on Free Republic, is how quickly many conservative talk show hosts and writers start covering what we are discussing. Of course many pretend that they have researched the data and found the guilty. Who cares as long as our home grown Jihadists are 'rooted' out of their spider holes.
