FBI probe uncovers a list of potential Southland targets and suggests a connection between prison groups and Islamic extremists.
A Pakistani national has been arrested by authorities in connection with a far-reaching investigation of a possible terrorist plot targeting any of nearly two dozen locations in Southern California, including National Guard recruitment centers, law enforcement sources said Monday.
The suspect, identified as Hamad Riaz Samana, 21, of Los Angeles, was quietly taken into custody last week by counter-terrorism officials as part of a probe that began with the arrest of two men in Torrance suspected of robbing gas stations. The investigation, sources said, has involved more than 100 FBI agents and Los Angeles police detectives as well as counter-terrorism specialists with other federal and local agencies.
While little is known publicly about the JIS, as intelligence officials call it, the group has been around for several years and has a presence at Folsom State Prison, where one of the three men in custody, Levar Haney Washington, 25, served time for assault and robbery, according to law enforcement sources.
The JIS is only one of the prison-based groups being investigated for possible ties to Islamic extremists.

Sounds like prisons are becoming the recruitment centers for muslims. And they have been for years. IIRC, that was where "Jose Padilla" was recruited.

It's believed Jose Padilla was recruited in prison. On the other hand, Gilbert Colon, presently wanted on an outstanding warrant for involvement in Clinton's campaign finance scandal lived directly across the street from the location where Imir Kansi used to repair taxicab brakes for his Islamofascist/AlQaida friends.
I'd guess there's another, "outside the prison" recruiting system in place for finding Puerto Rican terrorist candidates.
Wouldn't look much further than the DNC that employed Gilbert.

What a perfect place to recruit terrorists though. Men incarcerated with a huge chip on their shoulder against our society for the predictament they are in. Hateful angry people need a cause too. Prisons are ripe for the picking.Time to step up the Prison Ministries for the GOOD SIDE!

...between prison groups and Islamic extremists.Reminds me of Richard Pryor's observations while visiting a prison that went something like:
"In prison you have all these groups. You've got the Mao Maos, Muslims...double Muslims. Those are $#!@ you have to watch out for there...those double Muslims. Because those $!@# can't wait to get to Allah...and take a few hundred @!$* with them."

The NG here in San Diego has tanks and all kinds of heavily armored vehicles. Remember when that nut stole the tank frim the NG and drove all over town smashing up all sorts of stuff. It ended up a CHP officer had to shoot the guy.

I think the threat originated in the UK and they had some pretty specific info .. so I think our people are just trying to make truckers and others aware of the potential.
It's really scary to me because my son drives a cross-country truck - but at least it's not a gas tanker.
