All along, we've been assuming that Weldon has the goods. But where did HE get this stuff from? What's his evidence?
Maybe in our rush to blame it all on Clinton and Gorelick we just agreed with something that's simply too good to be true because we WANTED it to be true?
I have no special knowledge, but I'm saying this looks like Weldon (who some here were proposing should run for president based on this alone!) is stretching the truth to sell books.
I hope he's got the goods to back this up, or he's made us all look like asses.
Nothing to see here. Move right along. Weldon is just trying to sell books, right?
its too soon to draw that conclusion.
if the story is true, and if this DoD team wants this story out, they had better start leaking some hard facts, its the only way.
I guess I am the one who is urging a Weldon White House bid! LOL! :)
I don't think so.
IF the issues are as Podhoretz says, than this only affects the issues regarding the 9-11 Commission (whether or not it supressed the Able Danger information). It does not affect the issues regarding Gorelick's (and Shnell's?) precence in that commission (which blatantly comprimised it, in most of our opinions), and it in no way affects the revelations about The Wall and its part in spiking the investigations that had the 9-11 terrorists on the tips of our fingers a year out.
Right now I don't have enough information. I am not going to allow certain members of the press to stampede me into calling Weldon an opportunist. It seems to me that Weldon has enough sense to know that if he couldn't back this information up with witnesses and documents, he would be doing harm to his country and the Republican party, not to mention his ability to stay in office.
My suggestion is that we not jump on either bandwagon, but make an effort to get the facts, including the witnesses, on the record and let the public decide what is believable and what is not.
I want open hearings with witnesses under oath, and I want those hearings televised. I do not want to have to figure this out based on second-hand accounts, "unnamed sources" in the New York Times, and the interpretation of various and sundry leftist reporters, who have demonstrated through their coverage of Cindy Sheehan that they are not interested in the truth.
Based on the number of changed stories coming out of the commision regarding this, I'd say he's got something. I'm not sure what it is but he couldn't possibly expect to get away with making the whole thing up.
Dan Rather?
Bottom line: For the memory of 3000+ citizens who perished on Sept 11, 2001, either Weldon ought to go to jail for being so wrong or Clinton and Gorelick ought to be behind bars!
Pick one.......But this time let's have an honest investigation?
Makes sense. Maybe it's time to wait and see what happens next.
I take it there was evidence among the 5 boxes of documents he sent the commission.
