I'm watching.
I don't know photogirl, so I don't know if whe works at the radio station or is just lacks a working BS-detector.
LOL, I sorta remember that! Not in real-time, but way afterwards off Comedy Central.
It was one of the FEW time I ever watched SNL.
But it is funny!!
Well, then I guess it was ok to do that, since it was "for the children" /sarcasm off
What's your point?
Never mind
Moving right along!!
An old scam that dates back to the viet nam war protests days. They would post stuff saying they were going to "burn a dog" to death at a certain time and place. People would show up to kick some butt and they would state "you care more about a dog than people." Then start with their pablum against the war and our military.
I know this is off the topic but speaking of PETA I heard on Fox and Friends that these wackos either have or are planning on filing a suit against the NCAA teams who have the word cock as in "Game Cocks" because the states where these teams are located (sorry I'm not a basketball fan) have outlawed cock fighting.
Probably just a way to raise awareness. Many people will ignore the kids drowning, but a dog will get their attention. They don't need to drown the dog, just say they will and PETA will come running. When kids drown they say nothing.
Don't they have a Drown a Pitbull for Peace program in Denver?

FOR EVERYONE CONCERNED OVER THE FATE OF MINDY THE DOG, NOW THAT YOU KNOW SHE NEVER EXISTED, GO TO YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER AND RESCUE ONE OF THESE DOGS ON YOUR OWN, AS THESE ANIMALS ARE BEING PUT DOWN EVERYDAY.
Thanks to everyone who phoned or emailed in, for taking the time to express your comments and concerns. Jim and I hope that you also took the time to listen to the finale this morning just after 8am.
To set the record straight, the entire stunt was a complete fabrication. A combination of dog sound effects, recorded audio of our stunt guy outside the building and personal recordings I did of water splashing using my 3 year old son Logans kiddy pool.
Again...THERE WAS NO DOG. (You can actually see where we found the photo of "Mindy" here http://images.google...&btnG=Search+Images)
After the reveal that there was no dog, Melinda Howard of the Greater Grand Rapids Child Safety Coalition was kind enough to join us live on the air to talk about child safety. She will be leading a child safety class today at Millennium Park between Noon and 3pm.
There was never any intention to drown a dog or bring harm to any animal what so ever. What you heard and the way the show was executed was exactly as we had planned.
What we did this morning, we feel needed to happen to grab the proper attention about the dangers of children and water related accidental deaths.
I have a 3 year old son whom I love dearly and 2 cats. In no way would I, Jim or anyone on our staff bring harm to any animal.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost there loved ones this week. We hope our actions over the coarse of the past few days had enough impact to make a difference.
If you wish to help the family of the tragedy that happened at Millennium Park.

I doubt they'll really do it...it's most likely a publicity stunt. Rush did (actually said he would kill puppies) almost the same thing on his radio show several years back. There we no way he was actually going to do kill them.
LOL! First thing I thought of too. :)
cute dog
I'm not buying this for a minute.
"PETA.. filing a suit against the NCAA teams who have the word cock as in "Game Cocks" because the states where these teams are located...have outlawed cock fighting."
LOL, those teams should change their names to Fur Wearing Meat Eating Red Injun Game Cocks, or something like that.
Heck no! I hate WKLQ...I didn't figure they were really going to kill a dog (but I wanted to make a stink just in case.) The main reason why I am mad is because WKLQ is a station that has lost a lot of listeners, and this was a stunt to get people back. In a newscast last night, I heard that the show Howard Stern dropped the station over a year ago, and KLQ has been fighting with low ratings. The local news even said that this was all for publicity. With that in mind, two children DID drown this week, and I feel that the station did this stunt not to "help the children" but to bring attention to their crappy radio show. (which has now been a proven success.)
I think this was unethical, tasteless and I feel that they should be fired for using a tragedy to make themselves look better.
I guess they do a lot for our troops though, so I won't slap them if I see them on the street, lol.
Thank you everyone for helping out today. I am glad the stunt was fake...but I am still angry none the less!
And sorry that it was so poorly written...thats what I get for cutting and pasting from threads at 7am!
