Dr. Squyres is a gentleman and a scholar who is super brilliant and super approachable to students. I arrived at this conclusion after hearing Squyres speak at a UCLA astronomy conference May 05 and after seeing him interact with students.
The Opportunity rover is looking at rocks that may have been shaped by water, according to the article above.
