I used to think that Carter was just a decent guy who got in over his head as President (I was young when he was elected).
But in recent years I saw an interview with him on TV. The hubris of this man was stunning. One explanation for why he is still shooting off his mouth, despite being an ineffective one term President.

Remember when Jimmah said he consulted with his daughter Amy on foreign policy? Not long after on Monday night football some former footbal QB was asked his opinion on a play, and he replied that he'd have to call his daughter and get back to them . .
No reflection on the south, I grew up there, but Cartuh's as big a joke as his fellow southerner, Slick William.

I think at the time he was a decent guy, wrong-headed and wrong, but decent, in way over his head. I think the frustration of being a Democrat over the years, the disappointment of being wiped out by Reagan, and th e bad company he keeps, have driven him over the edge. Perhaps he can grab a bush to hang on to before the end of his life.
