The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Was Bomber's "New York" Shirt A Message?
Full Story

It's hardly a unique fashion statement for a mass transit rider: a Yankees-style cap, and a "New York" sweat shirt.

But the New York Police Department is teaming with British authorities to determine whether those items were worn by suspects in the London terror cases to send a "purposeful message" to the city, according to an NYPD officials.

David Cohen, the NYPD's deputy commissioner of intelligence, raised the concern earlier this week at a security briefing for business leaders at police headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

"Al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia linked to London hits"
By Toby Harnden
LONDON SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
August 7, 2005

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "RIYADH, Saudi Arabia -- Two senior al Qaeda operatives in Saudi Arabia made money transfers and used coded text messages to communicate with suspected terrorists in Britain in the months before the July attacks in London, according to security officials in the kingdom.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that the two men, of Moroccan descent, have since been fatally shot in separate gunbattles.

Younis Mohammed Ibrahim al-Hayari, al Qaeda's purported leader in Saudi Arabia, was killed in Riyadh three weeks ago, and Abdel Karim al-Mejati died in a shootout in the central Al-Qassim region in April.

Security officials in Saudi Arabia suspect both men of involvement in the attacks on London on July 7 and 21 and say they have established that al Qaeda is operating in Britain."

NOTE TO ALL: THIS IS A REAL IMPORTANT POINT ladies and
gentlemen because as of this writing, muslims have NOT called us to
war. JIHADIS are fighting a war. It is jihad.

If that specific term was posted in the article itself; I missed it. <<<<<<<<<

I see the fine play on words, jihadi versus muslim.

I reread the article, and still consider it a call to war, as it tells the muslim man that if he is past 15 he must fight.

Yes, I added the keyword.

All muslims are not terrorists.

All muslim terrorists are muslim.

Most of my day is sent searching for reports and warnings of the muslim terrorists and as far as I am concerned, we are
involved in a war and they intend for us to die.

That is all it takes for me call it war and most that are out to kill us, are muslims.

Chavez has been on a shopping spree lately with China and Iran. I guess he doesn't want to share with anyone his new toys.

"Hugo Chavez's Latin Al Jazeera"
Tech Central Station ^ | August 8, 2005 | Robert Mayer

Posted on 08/08/2005 2:18:27 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Dressed down in their best proletarian duds, sympathizers of the FARC Marxist paramilitary take to the streets brandishing their best hammer and sickle flags. Manuel Marulanda Vélez, chief leader of the terrorist group, makes an appearance. An ominous voice takes the screen: "Who will judge the U.S. military personnel caught trafficking drugs and arms in Colombia?"

This isn't a commercial for Al Jazeera, but that would be a close guess. It's a promotional campaign for a continent wide, pan-American satellite news channel that made its debut on July 24.

Witness Telesur, the brainchild of Cuban communist Fidel Castro and his ideological spawn Hugo Chávez. They say that it was created to both compete with foreign media conglomerates and offer a side of the news that is uniquely Latino. Independent, they say, from any voice but that of the people. The truth, however, is far from their propaganda platforms. Telesur is being funded by the leftist governments in Uruguay, Argentina, and Cuba, with Venezuela alone controlling 51% of the company. It will be housed in Caracas at the headquarters of Venezuela state media, where Chávez regularly opines for hours on end about impending imperialist invasion to the delight of only 2% of the Venezuelan public."

Syrian president visits Iran

www.chinaview.cn 2005-08-08 10:34:06

TEHRAN, Aug. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived here Sunday for a
two-day official visit, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Bashar, who is heading a high-ranking delegation, was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the Presidential Office, the report said.

During his stay in Tehran, Bashar is scheduled to hold talks with high-ranking Iranian officials on
issues of mutual interest.

Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said that Assad's visit to Tehran was
taking place on two topics -- offering felicitations to Ahmadinejad and holding negotiations on
bilateral and regional issues.

Assad became the first head of state visiting Iran after Ahmadinejad took office on Wednesday,
according to IRNA.Iranian media on Saturday branded Syria as a strategic ally and highly praised
the visit, saying it will have a significant impact on political and economic fronts for Iran, Syria and
Lebanon.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri paid a visit to Iran in February, during which the
two sides called for a united front to confront economic sanctions imposed on them by the United
States.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmad Azizi said in March that Iran-Syria cooperation had no
military or security nature. After the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri
on Feb. 14, Syria was forced to withdraw all of its troops from Lebanon in late April in line with
UN Security Council Resolution 1559, ending a 29-year military presence in its neighbor.

Iran maintains close relations with pro-Syrian Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group which helped
end Israeli occupation in south Lebanon in 2000. Enditem
